4th Central Cali Meet - San Luis Obispo - Sat Jul 18th

WHEN: Saturday July 18, 2009
WHERE: San Luis Obispo
AGENDA:
- NorCal and SoCal caravans leave Sat by 8AM to get to SLO by 11AM
- Meeting point will be the same Marriott Courtyard we've stayed at the last two times on 1605 Calle Joaquin Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405.
- For those who are staying overnight, I've negotiated a group rate for us of $179. The normal rate is $229. Please call the hotel at 1-805-786-4200 and reference the group code, E60.net to get the discounted rate.
- Meet & Greet for about an hour.
- Spirited drive to Cambria.
- Lunch at Las Cambritas Mexican restaurant in Cambria at 1PM. We will be seated on the outside deck.
- After lunch, members can do any of the following activities:
1) Go to Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill for drinks. This place overlooks the beach/ocean. Moonstonebeach.com : Home Of The Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill | Welcome
2) Go to Shamel County Park a couple miles away. This place has a grassy area with beach access, public restrooms and public swimming pool
3) Go wine tasting at any of the many wineries on the route back to the Hotel.
4) Go back to the Courtyard and hang out at the pool. POOL PARTY!!!
- I'm still trying to book dinner at the Custom House Restaurant on Avila Beach. This is where we had the group lunch at the 2nd SLO meet in Mar 2008. The place is right on the walkway there facing the beach. It's related to Mr. Rick's bar so we can hang there afterwards for drinks. They have a patio facing the beach and pier. The weather should be great in July to be right on the beach in the evening. My only concern with this place is that I will have to guarantee headcount and put down a deposit. I might have to have people Paypal me the money once they commit on the trip.
- After dinner we can either go bar hopping in downtown SLO or come back to the hotel and play some poker.

When you sign up, please put after your handle an L if you're in for lunch and the number of people you're coming with. Then a D if you're attending dinner and also the number of people. And finally either an H1K or H2Q if you need a hotel room with 1 king bed or 2 queens, respectively.

Example: EuroCarFan, L2, D2, H1K

PLEASE SIGN UP ASAP SO THAT I CAN PLAN ACCORDINGLY.

We currently have about 25 members signed up already on this forum as well as E60.net.

Glad to have you Jkozz! You should call and book your hotel room right away as the last day is tomorrow. Call the hotel at 805-786-4200 and reference the E60.net group to get the $179 rate instead of $229.

As for the agenda above, it looks like after lunch, we'll try to visit a winery or two on the route back to the hotel and then head back to chill at the pool.

For dinner, it doesn't look like we'll have enough people (was aiming for 50-60) to make it cost effective to get the outside patio section at the Custom House so we'll most likely go to Thai Classic in downtown SLO (reservations already made for 40).

After dinner, some of us are heading a few blocks down to a place called Native Lounge (www.nativelounge.com) and doing bottle service to party in style.
It's relatively cheap. Buying 1 bottle of Gray Goose gets you a table for 8 people and total cost after tips would only be a little more than $30 a person.

As with previous SLO trips, we'll be meeting at Starbucks off of the Bernal Exit of 101 in South San Jose at 7:30AM on Sat morning and leaving by 8AM SHARP. It's about 178 miles from Starbucks to the Marriott Courtyard in SLO so we should have plenty of time to get there before the 11AM meeting time.

Starbucks
125 Bernal Road Suite 20
San Jose, California 95119

Bring your FRS 2-way radios if you have any.
