Any drives or meets Sunday, June 8th?

I have the DA Twin and it wants to go out for a drive and meet some of the locals. An 800 HP M5 should be a good reason to get out. I prefer a West side or SFV meet up and then a drive. Morning is best for me, but I might be somewhat flexible depending on what people say...

So I ended up deciding to go on Angeles Crest all the way to Wrightwood from La Crescenta. The way out was glorious - made great time, got hung up behind people from time to time, but the road would open up.

The way back was terrible. Broke the SC belt. Got an oil leak (and limped it home with a top off), my kid barfed (he was my designated co pilot) and the highway got closed for about 30 min while a biker got airlifted out from an accident.

I probably have a couple of weeks to get things working again, so I will look for local events in that timeframe.

So I ended up packing my 5 year old with me for company and drove to Angeles Crest Highway. We did the whole thing from La Crescenta to Wrightwood where I planned to stop for lunch. The way out was glorious. I got bunched up a few times behind cars and bikes, but things also opened up for some fast sweepers. I got lots of quality driving out to Wrightwood.

I stopped for lunch at a little taco shack and then had to head back. The way back started out well - wide open roads. A BMW bike followed me - we really ate up the road. Then my SC belt blew and I stopped on the road as a helicopter had to airlift a downed biker. Waited there for 30 min. I found out the belt nicked a line and I was losing oil. Then my son puked in the car. Maybe that road was not the best to passenger on.

I nursed the car back to the Westside. Had to pop a quart of oil in. Got the low oil warning on the way home, but temps stayed low. The damage is a belt, an oil hose, lots of oil, and the tensioner pulley that seized up. I have things on order to fix up and should be ready for another drive in a couple of weeks.
