******NY/NJ Semi Annual e39 Meet!! May 16th****** OFFICIAL Ultimate Drive!

THIS THREAD MUST STAY IN THE E39 SECTION.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!! 04/26/09 01:34PM

We are MEETING AT fort lee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have the ULTIMATE drive setup for that day. No go kart action. No whining. We MUST all meet up at the Fort lee basin between 11 and 2:00. We head out quick once all are together. You can also show up earlier but we must leave around 3pm for this drive. Looking at almost 200 miles of driving secks! Mountains. Perilous ravines. Straight and fast highways. Bear mountain is the play bin at Mcdonalds. Im setting up the restaurant we will be getting together at during the drive. For the fort lee initial meet we can have some munchies for the road . Or even order chinese and have it delivered to us at the basin. NO BIG DEAL.

Try to bring walkie talkies. We must have them. Steal them from your brother or other family members if need be. Bring cameras. Bring a friend if you are afraid to drive alone. Am I smart enough to have thought about all of this myself? No not at all. The e60 guys did this meet and did it well. They did months of planning and ACTUAL RECON of the roads we will be driving on. They have a map which is being faxed to me as we speak. I have the luxury of having this info passed to me. They did it with precision and had the best meet ever. I will not change their game plan. Only difference is that out our get together is being held at the Fort Lee basin which is a perfect departure spot.

Gentlemen this is what are cars were made for. The ultimate drive in the ultimate machine! Dont get it twisted. This is not a drive to the local kiddy park. You will be pushing your cars to the extremes. Me, Harry, Martin and Dan will most likely be taking the leads. We can keep it at a moderate pace if someone cant keep up or wants to turn down the extreme factor a few notches. This drive can go both ways. A pleasurable LEISURE DRIVE or a pleasurable EXTREME drive. We can do both for flavor.

This is the official meet plan. No changes will be made. I thank all for the help. KISH, you will love this man. Trust me! Maybe you even know of what Im talking about!

UpDate!!!

I was going over the road and map and this will be a memorable drive.

Im mapping it all out as we speak.

Ok first off....

We MUST have communication. WALKIE TALKIES and/or CELL PHONES are a MUST!!!!!
****NO EXCEPTIONS****

If you dont have either, you will get LOST!

Some roads are very curvy. We must be in groups of no more then 5 -6 cars with gaps of about a quarter mile between groups! Each group will have a leader. ALL leaders will be in contact with each other.

Doing the math, this will be about 75-80 miles of driving one way. Coming back home will be shorter since we will not be diverting to other parts.

We must all refuel and have at least 3/4's of a tank of gas before we head out. So come to the meet with full tanks of gas if possible. There will be no stops for gas once we get going.

Also this is NOT a race. We are all mature enough to draw the line. NO RACING. Maybe we can line up a couple folks for some rolling runs but even that is questionable. If anything, this will be a test of suspension and braking.

Also note, please be on par with your driving skills. If you feel that you are not confident in taking a turn or going fast, SLOW DOWN! Groups leaders MUST keep track of the cars behind them.

There will be 3-4 checkpoints where we all get together and get a head count. We need to see which car has gone off a cliff lol. The final destination is a restaurant in newburgh NY. Please be prepared to have nummies and pay for it. This is still a bit sketchy. We dont have to eat if we have some food before we go out on the drive. We can always turn around and go home from that point forward as it will be close to late afternoon/evening.

I will have more details in the next day or so.

EVERYONE will be given a detailed itinerary on the day of the meet. Im going to do some recon and go out and do this drive on my own and see what to expect. I have heard that there are dips in the road that look normal at first but are an almost 90 degree drop. I have to map these things out.

Be ready!

The meet place is as follows. This will be our start point. We meet below at around 1045-1100AM!!

1662 River Road
Fort Lee, NJ 07024
and go down the hill to the meet. first left when you pass under the bridge.
