Where can I buy HELMET? for HPDE

I've signed up for a couple HPDE and I need to buy a Snell/DOT Helmet for my upcoming events. There are ton of places online that I could purchase from but I would like to try things on to make the smartest purchase?

Where can I try on/purchase a Helmet in the NYC Metro area and has a large selection, I'm willing to drive 1hr away so distance isn't a problem hell its half the fun...Thanks guys

You should be ok with a motorcycle helment - at least that's what I plan to use. You can go into any cycle shop and try on a few for the best fit.

By any chance, are you registered for the HPDE at Limerock, CT next Sat?

I have two motorcycle helmets that I could use but the consenus is that helmets designed for car use should be used, not exactly sure the reason why...

no I was going to sign up for that date but have a event that day...will be at Lime Rock 4/18 & then again 5/15, going to sign up for a couple more days but have to check my schedule.

I was recommended this place which is local to me going to check them out soon

Bought my lid at Stable Energies. Good selection and price - nice guys. Tried on 6+ before deciding on the one that fit the best. Ask for CCA discount...not a lot but something.

From what I understand, two main reasons for auto helmet instead of motorcycle...auto helmet liner is nomex (fire resistant) - cycle helmet is not, and 2) auto helmet tested for impacts simulating impact with door frame/roll cage and bike helmet tested for different impact types.

See you at Limerock on 5/15!
