Maintenance: I took my e60 M5 in to have the clutch release bearing greased as indicated on forum to help with that bang in the transmission on first gear ( the one we all love and feels like you got rear ended). Anyway, upon inspection, it turns out not only did it need grease, it needed a new bearing. The factory bearing was broken in 2 pieces. So if you are having this "bang" problem, take your car in and have it looked at. It could be as simple as greasing it, but it could be much more. Thank goodness for warranty.
Information: While I was at the dealer pickiing up the car, Patrick BMW in Schaumburg, IL, they had taken a trade on a FULLY loaded and modified 2006 e60 M5 with 20K miles...original owner had 140K in the car all dealer installed. Full Schnitzer and Hamman kits, Dinan mods, Carbon, fully loaded car, titanium Meistershaft exhaust to headers....i am telling you this car is LOADED. When I saw the asking price I almost traded my car right there....$59K. Seriously, this guy apparently does this to his cars every 2 years. he had also traded a 135i that is about as loaded as they come. Not kidding, this e60 was AMAZINGly sharp...visit them and take a look or call them. They showed me the list of everything they had put into it for him...guys, I paid $59K for my car bone stock. I am still considering a trade to this minute....this car was so sharp. If you know anyone looking for e60 M5, you will do them a favor to point them to this one if it's still there.
