M5/6 Manual

I bought an M6 with manual transmission a few weeks back... I've put about 500 miles on it so far and I have to say that I'm starting to have second thoughts about getting the manual...
its pretty clear to me now that this manual box was an after thought... something they just threw in there without too much engineering... I mean... for the car I think the gear ratios are all off... 1-2-3 ratio too far apart and 4-5-6 maybe a little too close... and it really does need the 7th gear...
I find that I have to "row" through the gears much more than my E46 M3 just to keep the engine in the RPM range that makes power...
Having said that... what I can do... I'll learn to live with and love it.. =)
