Does anybody know about this race track? (Pic)

Located 10 miles North of California City, CA. Google Earth or Yahoo maps shows this track that looks like a high-speed oval with infield (possibly unpaved) course. I'm really curious about it. Anybody know if it's available for use, rent, sale, etc. and if it's paved?

Thanks.

Zoomed pics

Here are some zoomed images from the satellite pictures. Building on the South side appears to be an entrance.

IIRC Ford had some sort of test track in CA. Maybe this is it.

Views from Google Earth:

I was looking for Willow Springs and came across yet another race track. I've labelled them "Mystery Race track #1" and "Mystery Race track #2".

They are definitely paved. I wonder if we can use them?

There is a Hyundai/Kia proving grounds just outside of Cal City. Would have to check map to see if thats the ones your talking about..

*Edit*
Mystery Track #2 is the Hyundai/Kia one.
Not sure about the north one. I will have to ask my buddy if he knows anything about it. He lives in that err, lovely town...

On the Kia one...
"The grounds include a 6.4-mile oval track, 2 million square-foot Vehicle Dynamics Area(VDA), a 2.75-mile winding track, a 3.3-mile hill road and various special surface roads constructed to duplicate U.S. highways. The Proving Ground also includes a 30,000 square-foot office complex for its 50 staff members."

Cool site, but unfortunately they aren't listed.

Looks like LA County Raceway (1/4 mile drag strip) and Willow Springs are the closest listed.

VetteRacer - do you know if they allow groups to use the facilities at the Kia track?

Thanks

Mark. I doubt it, but I dont know for sure.
I go between Lancaster and Vegas quite often, and pass by the turn off each time. I have wanted to, given time which never seem to have, stop by to see what happens when I get to the gate, see if there is a guard building or what.. The road says authorized personel only right away.

My brother mentioned he thinks Honda has something out in the desert somewhere.

Now that I think about it, I remember hearing from a friend that Honda has a motorcycle track out in the general area...
