2009 HPDE schedule Midwest/Great Lakes

I've put together a first cut at a compiled HPDE schedule for the midwest/great lakes region. I will try to keep this updated and current as the year goes forward. Let me know of any additions or changes that you are aware of.

Scuderia Asino Grigio: 2009 Track Event Schedule - Midwest

Also feel free to check out some of the other track related content on the site as well

Scuderia Asino Grigio

Thanks,

Thanks so much for taking the time to compile and post this info!!

Just off the top of my head the only Road America DE type event missing is the CAROC Fall Challenge (they did include transponder rentals last year). I got an email a few days ago saying is was to be October 17th and 18th this year although I don't see it on their yet to be updated schedule.

And even though this is not a DE event, I thought maybe some folks might be interested in reading about what seems to be a different type of driving format for around here--SATCAR. They were at RA late last year (Nov) and at Grattan and Gingerman.

Thanks again!

Actually its funny that you bring up those two events as I debated if I should include them or not, and in the end I opted not to, waiting to see if anyone would bring it up.

While I am a great fan of Alfas, especially GTA's or GTV's, I left the Alfa Club event off because it is a "timed speed event" and may run afoul of most insurance carriers, as the CAROC group runs the event like a TT.

In the case of SATCAR, I think its a great idea, but its more racing, (although not wheel to wheel) then it is a HPDE. If you know someone that is involved in these organizations I would be happy to include an article on the site, but if I include them, then I have to include true races as well.

Well, I would never call what SATCAR does a DE, (per their description only--I've never done an event with them), so you're off the hook for adding a wheel to wheel or racing list! CAROC is maybe in the gray zone (don't use a transponder or any other data aquisition tools like folks like to use in even pure DE evnts?) so to include or not is totally your call. But don't kill if I point out one other little possible HPDE event--hopefully it meets the list criteria or I'm in trouble LOL. Listed on the Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs site for May 23-25 is an HPDE at Blackhawk although it's still listed as TBD!!! I haven't done an event with Council since 2004 and I believe that was before they did HPDE's? (I think their HSAX's are a nice way to take a car on track with minimal prep/wear and tear--just FYI not list worthy LOL)

Hope you don't think I'm picking on you too much about what to include/exclude especially since you did all the work and such a nice (and so neat!!) job of getting the list together! As I'm sure you may agree the "E" in HPDE can mean Education, Experience, Event, Etc and the amount and quality of the E word can really vary. And of course the rules and the enforcement of those rules at each event can prove an adventure at times too LOL. Formats too can be also: For example, I seem to remember that NASA in the past, had TT's and the HPDE4's on track at the same time. (The potential for car insurance coverage in the event of an on track incident is something I personally never count on but that's just me.)

Anyway thanks again for everything and best wishes for a fun and safe track season!!!!

Anita

Okay I'm really, really slow in posting this tidbit here, but it looks like member of MFBA is saying they got a second DE date for Road America this year--October 3 and 4th (please see post #19 here).
I don't see it on the registration site yet however!?!?!
Thanks again for doing this!
