Hi all,
Just following up on the touring session at Autobahn.

As much as I thought I was done for the year for track sessions, this opportunity just kind of snuck up out of nowhere

.
Had a really good time. I had never been on the South track before so I figure I would treat this like a checklist of tracks to get to.
I have a few pictures from the event here.

I went with my coworker Kurt in his Cobra, but a few M5ers were able to join as well.

I actually ran into another coworker (Jim). He had a really nice project car (Honda Civic with the Acura Integra GSR motor and Corvette Z06 front brake set). Unfortunately he had some car trouble on Saturday.
Track packing list
In my previous post on my trip to Road America, I included a travel packing list of items to bring. I added a couple more items to the list.

Portable chair

I also brought a few more batteries and my laptop to download the videos from the camera to free up space on the card in between sessions. I'll have to look into an actual video camera one of these days.

Met Alpesh with his E60 M5 at the M5 meet the day before at Freddies Roadhouse.

Met another M5er (Greg) with his E39 M5.
There were some pretty cool project cars there.

This is an early 1970's Datsun. This little joker was fast. You'll see it in my video. I waved him by, but he was so quick in the turns I just couldn't keep up.

And how about this little puppy...

He was doing some serious damage on the straights in the parking lot.

This 760 was not on the track, but I thought it looked pretty sharp.
Well, what is a track session without video.
This was the remaining ten minutes of the fourth session. The group had just been in the pit for a black flag. I heard that a part of someone's brake pad flew off their car. Fortunately, there were no car casualties, unlike Road America. However, you could say there were some close calls.
I think I got a pretty good video as well. Had one O.S. moment at the 3:43 mark.

This video just begs for some Batman bubble comments. I have to brush up on my video editting skills.
What did I do differently from Road America?
1.) Tire dressing to monitor tire rollover
One of the things I did a little different was I sprayed some tire dressing on the side walls. I wanted to get a feel for how much rollover was occurring during the session.

Driver's side

Passenger's side.
This helped me see the rollover a little bit better. The driver's side will probably always take the worst beating. I do have the stock setup and will have this for a while.
2.) Peake code reader monitor
Driving my car around normally, I know the only code that I have is an E-Box fan code. I figured that I would add this check to my post session checklist. After each run, I hook up the peake to see if any new codes show up. Happy to say I still just have the E-Box code. Eventually, I'll address that issue. So far so good though.
Earlier in the year I had a couple of misfire codes. I think this occurred at Gingerman, but I wasn't sure so I thought this would be good to add.
Another good day
Had to collect a few things for a barbeque later on that evening.
So the ol' beast turned from race car to grocery getter. There aren't phone booths big enough for this thing.
Until next time, the is Wi_KeD_M5 signing off.
