I have not been a regular follower of F1 racing. But, given the hoopla about Sauber/BMW on this Board, I've watched most of this year's races.
Is F1 about the cars??; or drivers??; or race strategy?? Sauber/BMW is on the pole this weekend (which, barring car problems, seems to be a real advantage in these relatively short F1 races). Yet, at the start, Ferrari's Massa goes right by Sauber/BMW's Kubica; followed soon by Ferrari's Kimi doing the same thing.
So, which is it?? Sauber/BMW doesn't have the "beans" to stay in front of Ferrari?? Or, Ferrari's drivers are better than Sauber/BMW's?? Or, Ferrari team outsmarted Sauber/BMW team for car set-up at start??
'Realize McClaren has beat Ferrari in prior races (Hamilton) this year; but didn't show well today. 'Seems to me, whoever gets the early jump, and doesn't experience breakdown/accidents/pit mistakes, wins??
If that's the case, does Sauber/BMW need better cars??; or drivers??; to win?? Or, all else being equal, does it boil down to race start/pit strategy and team efficiency??

With the completition of the Bahrain GP, BMW is now leading the contractor's championship and leading Ferrari with 1 point. Its the 1st time in the past 25 years that a team other Ferrari, Mclaren, Williams is leading the championship.
Quote:
In the last 25 years, since Brabham went down, the three top teams, Williams, McLaren and Ferrari, have had their cosy grip on the sport broken by just one team – Renault (nee Benetton), who won two titles in the 1990s and another two in the 2000s.
Now it looks as though a completely new team is about to break into the sport’s most exclusive club.

If Lewis wants that McLaren LM he better shake a leg he's gotta win 2 world Championships & 2 Constructors championships...i bet Ron Dennis is just gotta give'em a kitted Mclaren...that'd be funny...how much would the car go for if he just decided to buy it...i heard it was $4million originally, buts what's it now 5 maybe more?
Thanks for the points spread! I am really excited that BMW/Sauber are doing so well this season. It is unfortunate they will not be racing in the US GP anymore. Viva BMW!!
I think it's good that BMW is now showing some muscle to compete with the big guys, even though McLaren's image in my mind is always of them being *****slapped by Ferrari.
