Radar detectors and the M5

I heard from people that the windshields in our cars render non-remote radar detectors useless (Beltronics STi Driver, Valentine V1), is this true?

EDIT: the manual calls it a IR-reflective...

These cars have a ECU that can compensate for lower octane fuel. Hell, it is even possible to run these beasts on Euro91 LEADED. (read the manual about fuel types permited)

With 19" I wouldnt try chains. But with the 18" 245/45 setup, maybe the new Konig K7 chains will fit? They are the lowest profile in the world at 7MM max.
