        WTB:2000/01 M5

        Im still trying to convince the wife to let me buy an M5. She just totalled our Denali so im searching for another car. Here is what im looking for:

        1. Any color but red (would like it to be blue or black).
        2. No more than 100k miles
        3. Stock or slightly modified
        4. Clean inside and out
        5. Im willing to spend up to $26k
        6. Im willing to travel mid east coast

        I don't want to rain on your parade, but I've gotta. With a budget of 26K, your going to be buying either a '00 or '01, with atleast 75K miles. Even those cars are getting close to 30K. Honestly, I think your better of buying a lesser car with less miles and some warranty. A 330i ZHP, 540i/6, etc. are all good choices.

        ive seen a 2000 model with only 70k miles for 26k but i dont want to travel all the way to florida. hopefully someone will have an M5 closer to me.

        with that mileage warranty is an option and your budget will go up...good luck btw what's wrong with red?

        JUST REMEMBER MY FRIEND THE CHEAPEST BMW WILL HE THE MOST EXPENSIVE ONE YOU WILL EVER BUY...

        read up on the board about carbon buildup.. most of the early year m5's in your budget will be great candidates for this huuuuuge price ticket fix...

        ur better off with a 540I/6

        You get what you paid for. So its best to pay a little bit more and GET what you paid for. You won't regret it if you do.

        thanks for all the info about the carbon build up. would it be covered under warranty to fix the carbon build up if the car came with one or would i have to pay out of my own pocket?

        Agreed, it's not the cost of the car but the cost to maintain and repair. Especially since 00's will be out of warranty.
