Do you find a difference (and if so WHAT) ... between the KW's (Variant 1) and the Ground Control Suspension Systems?
Hi Ed,
Oh, yeah, the difference is day and night.....First the quality of ride has improved tremendously, that is no more rigidity and excessive firmness....
The adjustability of firmness for the front is also a plus...Then, the corner balance and responsiveness has improved as well...The car rides likes a whole different beast....It's just amazing what a decent suspension can do for a 4000lb car.....
The camber on the front is 1.5 and the rear is 2.6
I think that the GC is hands down a much better setup for our beast than most other suspensions out there....it's a great balance between comfort and sportiness.
I just got back from California Speedway with Speedventures.com.....Man, I had a great time.....My best of the day was 2:08 and I was doing 145mph on the oval.....just incredible how this beast handles now compared to the KW's.
The rear end is set up just perfectly so that it just slowly slides if it looses traction (tested it at the track).....it's a lot of fun, the car is very predictable, even with the DSC off....
So, the beast has transformed into a well balanced vehicle...
Ed, yeah I agree with you - the GC is a hard to beat handling setup for the M5. Nice to hear about your Fontana experience - I always wanted to take my car down there and try that.
As good as the GC setup was though, I recently decided to de-install mine and put in some softer, more comfortable springs. This was mainly due to passenger request - and the desire for a more tolerable ride on rough roads in the area. Anyway, if you come across anyone who wants to get the GC Coil-Over setup (on a budget) - feel free to point them to my post in the For Sale section of this board: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...666#post766666
Enjoy your "new" ride - I remember the difference when I first got them installed in my car - it really was like a different beast!
