Re: 2001 Dakar Yellow M5 For Sale

Same car with Niello now? for $62,415?!

So sad.

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...2&aff=national

If we might inquire (and help other potential owners) what did they pay for the car?

BTW, I was negotiating on a 2003 M5 and the prior owner shared with me how much they recieved for the trade. Crimminy, the dealer just felt that that was so unethical. HA. HA. HA.

Re: 2001 Dakar Yellow M5 For Sale

I think the ad is a mistake. I sold the car to another individual. He was able to take advantage of BMW's certified pre-owned program. The purchaser and I agreed on a price. Niello then purchased the car from me for that price, certified the car for $3000 a fee and sold it to the new owner for $49,500. I was at teh dealer and know he took posession of the car Thursday. It worked out well because they handled all of the paperwork and the new owner received a 100K mile warranty.

In my experience used luxury cars are hard to sell. It took me 3 months to sell the M5 and I didn't get a single bite until I lowered the price. I replaced the M5 with an 03 CL55 that I picked up for $78K, which was $120K new. I'm glad I didn't by the Merc new. All things considered, the M5 held it's value very well you consider it was 4 years old

Re: 2001 Dakar Yellow M5 For Sale

Ah, good to hear.

I, in fact, will be doing the same thing this week- (but on the other 'side')

I found an 03 with a private party, and found a dealer willing to do the same thing: in one sitting the current owner sells to the dealer, they cpo it, and I buy it.

It took some talking on my part to find a dealer/finance manaer/GM willing to do this. In my deal, the dealer is never 'at risk' since they don't complete the purchase transaction until I sign the deal (and fork over the cash). Some dealers might be willing to actually own it for a while (especially if they are getting $3k), but as you note these are not easy for anyone to sell.

In my case I paid up front for the cpo 'inspection'- once that passed they were willing to proceed. The are only charging $1295 for the cpo extended warranty (which is the only reason to do this, IMHO). Interestingly, the brakes were the biggest risk- cpo requires they be >50% but the free maintenance will not pay until much lower.... luckily brakes were fine.

Total add-on to me was $1700 plus 800 for rear tires.

Good luck with the clk.

PS I don't think the ad is a mistake- Niello will get something out of it... if nothing else Todd and Candy get a few more calls and try to sell a 7 series..

PPS When the deal is done, I'll post a dealer feedback- you guys will drop your teeth when you hear- if you know the N. CA landscape.
