I was taking a detour today when I spotted what looked like a debadged, shiny silver E34 M5. Very rare in my part of town. I turned around but did not see him. I continued down the road on the off-chance I'd see him again, and lo and behold, there he was, parked at a BP station. Talking to the polite owner, I found out that it was not an M5, but, supposedly, a rarer car. He said it's for sale if someone offered a good price for it. BMW imported 200 of these special cars into the U.S. just before E34 production was stopped. Out of the 200, 135 were 6-speed manuals. Here's a site that gives good background about these cars versus a regular 540i manual --
