highly unlikely to find one on m5board since all e39 m5 have dual stage bags. your best bet is bimmerforums or bimmerfest.

i want to say they dont, dont quote me though. but there werent any 99 model M5s in the USA. so you would be looking at a european airbag, and the cost associated with shipping would negate any savings that you may have had.

Yes 99's have dual stage from 3/99 which I believe almost all M5s are included in.

Does anyone know if it is physically possible to convert a single stage to a dual stage? I have a single stage wheel and have always wantend a newer style wheel, but they are 2-stage.
Just curious.
Thanks.

You need a new slip ring and sort of have to rebuild your steering column. Probably not worth it.
