FS --> 2002 e39 M5 72k $24,000

The first $24,000 gets my 2002 M5. It is titanium silver with black interior. 72,900 miles.

I bought the car in January 2008 from Ebay. I flew 500 miles away and drove it home with zero problems. When I acquired the car the front tires were new, but the rear tires were shot as was the clutch. As soon as I got it home, I took it to my indy for an oil change and new clutch. After this service was performed, I took the car and had 2 new Michelin PS installed on the rear. I bought the car with 67k miles on it and it now has basically 73,000. There are zero known mechanical problems with the car. As far as the exterior goes, the wheels are in decent shape. Every wheel has rash in some form. The driver's side rear has blistered paint and has begun peeling. The wheels ride straight and perform as they should, but I did buy the extra set in anticipation of replacing the wheels currently on the car as I do prefer the car to look its best. I have a like new complete set of OEM shadow chrome wheels I acquired here on the board that I will sell for $1000 to the buyer of my car. They are not for public sale at this time. Inspection II has been performed. The interior is extremely clean (especially considering it is black). The gear shift knob shows some fading in the picture below. I removed and painted the insert as well as re-connected the knob's light. it looks much better and the red LED lights shine through the knob as they are supposed to. I have maintenance service records that date back to 2006 and 33k miles. This car was not driven much until the previous owner obtained it in 2006. It was exclusively serviced at the BMW Dealer in/ around Wilmington, NC prior to my purchase. The front bumper has a crack in it that is hardly noticeable except for the clearcoat is peeling off around the crack. It looks like the front bumper was driven into a tire causing a small scuff and hairline crack. All in all, I rate this car a 8-8.5/10. It is by no means a garage queen, but it will still make you extremely proud to own. With this being said, I am extremely particular. My vehicles are cleaned/ detailed multiple times per year. I just installed new VW MAFs about 2k miles ago and also replaced the oil separator hoses behind the MAF housing that typically turn to putty (not sure of the technical name). I have driven the car 7k miles since oil change and no oil consumed whatsoever. Since owning the car, I have averaged 33 mph and 18mpg. I typically get 16 mpg around town and have gotten up to 23 mpg on the highway. I believe I am the third owner. The previous owner was told he was buying a lease return making him the second owner. The AutoCheck report matches this information.

Carfax is clean as is AutoCheck. VIN# WBSDE93492CF90038.

Why am I selling? I am in graduate school and drive 300 miles every Saturday on top of my weekly miles to work. While I could keep the car, I honestly hate to put this amount of miles on it. Rather than running the miles up, I decided to put a for sale sign on her.

zero inquiries with 150+ thread views - is the M5 market that flat right now? I would ask if I am pricing it too high, but quite frankly I will not sell it for much less than I am asking.

$23,500 total for the car and extra set of wheels. The extra set of wheels are 9.8 on a scale of 10. EXTREMELY SHARP! Any takers?

Be patient. I was on car auctions recenlty and these still go in mid 20's with just a few to choose from. Dealers somehow manage to sell them.
Selling a Beast turns out to be not such an easy deal, you're not the first one here, having trouble selling.
The right buyer will come along.

There was a thread recently where guys discussed creating a special web-site for a car sale, so you might want to consider that as well. Costs nothing.

Good luck!

After reading a post circulating on the board regarding the 540 vs the M5 and which one to buy, I remembered my e39 540 and my decision to bump up to the M5. Screw the sale - I'm keeping this beast. I enjoy driving this car WAY TOO MUCH to sell it. This car is no longer for sale at this time!
