Feeler: 2007 M5 Lease Takeover ($1,085 per month)

I'm not 100% sure I'm ready to part ways with my baby, but I'm considering trading it in for two separate vehicles.

First the car details (and then I'll add the "why"):
  • 2007, leased in July 2007, so 12 months into 36 month lease
    • Roughly 24 months remaining at this point
  • $1,085 monthly payment
    • I paid the tax upfront so the payment technically includes tax
  • Up to 30,498 miles available under current terms
    • More miles can be added at $0.16 per mile
    • P.S. PM me if you can't figure out the '498'
  • Roughly 18,000 miles on the car now
    • So doing your math, yes, there aren't a lot of miles per month
  • I'll look up the buyout if you want, but I got a good deal on the residual so I doubt you'll want to buy it vs. current market prices for used.
Black/Black/Aluminum
SMG
Comfort Access
Rear Heat
Rear Shades
Sirius
(no HUD, full leather, active or ventilated seats)

*Optional aftermarket parts to be negotiated
  • Dinan Stage 2 suspension
  • Ground Control camber plates
  • Stainless steel brake lines
  • BBS RG-Rs in black, 19x9 front and 19x10 rear
    • Continental tires
  • 2 sets OEM wheels
    • One mounted with Pilot Sport Cups (R compound)
    • One with Blizzaks (Snows)
Now the why...

I'm sure any of you who would do your due diligence on this car would do a search for my posts. If you didn't plan to...FULL DISCLOSURE...read them! This is not a garage baby! Sure I clean/polish/wax etc., but this car does have a "used" front end. If you need spotless, then either this isn't the car for you or you would need to respray the front end. Other than that, it is pretty spotless. No dents or dings or scratches, just the chipped front. And nothing you couldn't turn back in as "normal wear and tear" I might add.

So back to the "why". This car is a BLAST to drive, but I'm getting a little more serious about wanting to go racing. I'm starting to sniff around for an E46 M3 to gut and take off the street. If the M5 is going to end up solely as a commuter, I'm going to find something that does that job a little better. Who knows, probably some old man car.

So, would anyone be interested in the car knowing its history, but taking into consideration the cheap payment and understanding it is completely under warranty? I'd appreciate any and all feedback, even if it is to say "No one in their right mind would lease YOUR car!"

I'll post pictures if there is any real interest, butttt, it's black...with stock wheels, or the BBS RG-Rs in black if you want them. I'd guess what most people would probably be more curious to see is pictures of the front, which I'll take if people want to see it.

If people think someone would want to lease it, I'll give people on M5board a first look and then throw it on leasetrader. Thanks in advance for everyone's help.

+1 for great guy!!! Good luck with the sale Tom!

Keep me posted on the E46 M3. I love that car (much more than the E90)! You should talk to my good friend Scott here in Dallas (M5board name ///Wall_st) who also has his M5 up for sale. He just put the Horse Power freaks Stage 2.5 turbo kit on his E46 M3 rated I think near 650Hp at the wheels 800 at the crank. His car is all ready for the track in terms of suspension etc.

Thanks Q! I really love my car, but I'm just getting that itch to take it a step further with the track. And I'm thinking an E46 M3 would be a great platform to work off. It is a beautiful car and outstanding on the track.

650hp at the wheels is insane! I'd be staying pretty stock with the engine. I need to learn to keep my momentum going rather than relying on horsepower to make up for my mistakes. Although it is SO much fun to run down just about anything!

We'll see how this goes. If it appears I'm wasting my time trying to lease transfer, I'll just keep it. It's not like having an M5 in the garage is a bad thing! I've convinced the Mrs. to let me get a race car, but she says if I am going to have two cars, the M5 is not going to be the second one! Although what a nice garage that would be...

Maybe I need a new wife instead of a new car? JUST KIDDING! She'll read this and cut me off for a week.

Given the details on your car, I would suggest giving an incentive such as a couple months free or something. This would probably be the best way for you to get out of it. Just my $0.02. Good luck!!

Hahaha. You have had more luck with convincing your wife than I have with mine . My wife says I have to keep my M5 for 7 years before I get another car! (she shakes the finger just like that) No additions to my garage, unfortunately; although I do tickle her with ideas every so often to see if her mind has changed hahah!

Best of luck buddy! Keep me posted!
