FWIW Bavarian sells them for 599.95 new. Go to http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp and enter 'ignition' (without the quotes) in the search box.
You may have to set the model to 'M5' and year to 2003 before you do the search.

I've been considering upgrading my ignition system. What were the observable benefits of using these coils and unless you just need the money, why did you remove them
Thanks.

Tight on money. Was putting a clutch in the car and ending up doing that plus new tensioner pullerys/chain rails=NOT cheap
Benefits are that you are getting double power to these coils. Results in smoother driving and about 1mpg. Burns more efficiently.
