FS - 2001 M5 - $26,5K OBO

I JUST purchased this car (within the last 2 months), and now have to relocate from Colorado (where the car is currently) to the East Coast to be where my ex/daughter will be living. Unfortunately there's NO WAY for me to keep it there. Need to sell before August 1 (which is when I move).

I did extensive research when I bought the car from a friend's father (2nd owner) who never drove it. You can see from the pictures that it's in EXCELLENT condition inside and out. Pretty standard M5 equipment: sound system, sunroof, 6 disk changer, navi, etc.

However, we all know the REAL information is in what you can't see.
Here's some of that information:

Carfax is here

The car has ONLY been serviced by certified mechanics, and has 72K miles (only 6K of which have come in the last 2 years).

The following have been upgraded within the last 2K-5K miles (all work done by BMW dealer and certified BMW specialist in Boulder, CO). Have service invoices for all of this:

NEW CLUTCH (Flywheel and clutch) within last 5K miles (was told it didn't actually need the clutch, but the previous owner WANTED to replace it to get a better "feel") = $3,500
New Windshield: $800
Replaced upper/lower valve cover gasket sets ~$650
New foglights = $325
New rear lower ball joints and sway mount = $517
New lines for steering fluid = $340
Replaced upper/lower oil gaskets ~$400
I also have an extra tire/wheel

That's about $6,500 worth of JUST COMPLETED maintenance. Kelly BB lists the car as $28,775 for excellent condition and $27,205 for good...but I understand that it's really only worth what someone will pay. My goal was to price it appropriately to move...but not get skinned. Granted this price doesn't leave much negotiating room.

Please let me know if you're interested, or have questions. It's possible that I could drive the car to you if you're located between Colorado and Boston.

Any questions: govy@inteo.com or 970.396.9085

Make me a reasonable offer...I'm VERY motivated to sell the car, but will keep it garaged in Colorado if it doesn't sell before Aug. 1.

Jack

Addition: I haven't had the car long enough to switch from OH plates (they're good until '09), and sorry about the water bottle in the backseat (I'm still hearing about that one from my pals...unfortunately it's been raining ever since I took the pics and haven't taken the car outside).
I

This is what Edmunds.com comes up with. They claim TMV(true market value). I've heard KBB is always behind with their #'s.

Black or Carbon Black? I'm not 100% sure how to determine this? How can I tell? VIN is WBSDE934X1BZ98873 if that helps determine it.

Fold down back seat/ski bag? Negative.

Sun Screens? Excuse my ignorance, but it does NOT have rear sun screens if that's what you're asking.

Milage on tires and what brand? Brakes? I'm not sure of the actual tire mileage. They still have tread left, I would probably replace them within 24 months. They are dunlop tires. The dealer told me that the brakes were fine, but would probably need to be replaced within the next 10K miles. Can get more information if you want.

"Replaced upper/lower oil gaskets ~$400"-Not sure what this is? These were replaced at the dealer's recommendation. They described them as the upper and lower oil pan gaskets.

Why did someone buy it and never drive it? My friend's father purchased the car as part of a company that he acquired. He travels extensively internationally, has a couple of houses, etc. He bought the car before building a primary residence in the mountains, and ultimately needed to get a car that could go in the snow (he stored the car in his garage in Boulder). I don't think he was worried about cost.

How long did they own it? The previous owner had it for 2-3 years, I believe he was the second owner, but have an email in to him to confirm this. The car was in TX previously, and he registered it through his company in OH although to the best of my knowledge it has only been in TX/CO.

You are the 3rd or 4th owner? 3rd I believe. Am confirming.

How many miles have you put on the car? Maybe 300. Not enough!

This is what Edmunds.com comes up with. They claim TMV(true market value). I've heard KBB is always behind with their #'s.

Understood on the edmund's price. I'm hoping that all the maintenance counts for something in the total price...especially the brand-spanking new clutch.

The only other issue that I elected not to deal with is that some of the pixels on the cluster display are missing. It's still readable, but I didn't see the benefit of dropping $1300 to replace the cluster (the only known fix). I paid $27,5 for it (since I KNEW that it was sound under the hood).

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the info. I think BMW will replace that cluster for free, not positive on that but worth a call.
Carbon black is dark blue metalic in the sunshine and looks black at night or in the shade.
Only 300mi behind the wheel stinks for you but I understand the family aspect and the need to relocate.
I will consider yours but there are others to consider as well.

It's black from any angle at any time of day, so I guess that makes it black (almost can't believe I wrote that sentence).

Click here for more information on the clutch.

No worries. Just remember that the first realistic offer probably gets this one.

Those pics aren't very good. Most of them are way too small. Defintely take more pictures and post more and, yes, make sure there is adequate lighting but not to make them overexposed.

Try posting on roadfly.com as well.
