Hey everyone,
I am selling my Active Autowerke "Signature High Flow Cat Back Exhaust"
for $1800 plus shipping. A new system retails for $3,800. This system replaces the entire exhaust system and bolts onto the headers. Please check the AA website for more details, including pictures and video.
Please read the following carefully if you are interested in this exhaust:
I am the second owner of this system. I bought it from a local board member and he only used it for a few months. I have had it for about 7 months. I am selling it because it is too loud. It isn't too loud for my tastes, but it sometimes wakes my baby up in the morning (her room is above my garage) and it sometimes sets off car alarms in my parking garage at work. So an annoyed wife, sleepy baby, and rent-a-cop security officers at work are all hating the M5! Besides, my lease is up in 9 months.
The exhaust has the alignment issue that was made very public here on M5board. I had never noticed it before that thread. After closer inspection, my system indeed had driver side tips that pointed low and to the inside compared to the right side muffler tips. I worked with AA to get the left muffler replaced and the new left muffler appeared to over compensate for the correction. The new left muffler sat too high. My installer was able to twist and turn things so it isn't very noticeable. I considered having him cut the pipe and reweld, as others have done successfully for a couple hundred bucks. But it just wasn't that important to me. I truly believe that with a full exhaust system of three sections, there is some variability with the installation that can change the muffler tip alignment.
I am selling the exhaust for $1800. You can get the left side fixed if you want, or you might even have a more "correct" installation and might not even have the issue. Either way, $1800 is a steal for a muffler that sounds as great as it does. The best way to describe it is to say it sounds very deep and mean on a cold start and at idle, and screams like an F1 car at higher RPM. The throttle blip at downshift on SMG cars sounds so good, you will rarely listen to the sound system! PM me or email to stevenshin at yahoo dot com.
