FS: 2005 BMW M3 Convertible, 21k mi., Excellent Condition, Pics
About the car:
This is a 2005 model M3 convertible with essentially every factory option. The car is under the full manufacturer’s warranty and includes BMW’s full maintenance through January 14th, 2009 or 50,000 mi..
Here is a list of options and their price in 2005:
Base Price: $55,800 (which includes premium package, leather, power memory seats etc.)
Silver Gray Metallic: $475
Lumbar Support: $400
Heated Front Seats: $500
Xenon Headlights: $700
Navigation System: $1,800
19” Alloy Wheels: $1,750
Sequential Manual Gearbox: $2,400
Destination Charge: $695
Gas Guzzler: $1,300 Total MSRP: $65,820
Additional Dealer add-ons that come with the car:
Wind screen: ~$500
Factory Alarm: ~$300
Car cover: ~$200
Front license plate holder was removed from the vehicle but will be included.
Rubber floor mats: ~$120 (carpeted mats included also)
In addition to the above, an aftermarket audio system was professionally installed and includes Focal Speakers all around, two JBL amplifiers, and two JBL Power 10” subwoofers in a custom sealed enclosure. The original navigation system was retained and is fully functional, controlling all aspects of the system. From the inside, the car looks completely stock. The only indication of the presence of an aftermarket system is the sub enclosure in the trunk.. Furthermore, the car was optioned from the factory with the “premium package” which includes Bluetooth phone connection and BMW SOS as well as power everything.
I have all keys, all the manuals, and even the original window sticker. Additionally, I have all the receipts for everything that was ever done to the car including the original bill of sale, dealer maintenance, and the audio installation.
This is a California car. I purchased it and drove it from LA last summer from a member of m3forum.com.
Current Mileage: 21,000 mi.
Reason for Sale:
I am in the market for a 4-door sedan. I would hate to see this car go but recent changes in my life require me to have a bigger car. Furthermore, if you track my history with cars you will note that I buy late model high end cars and generally keep them between 6-12 months.
The car's story:
This vehicle was originally purchased in LA. It technically has three owners. Original owner, the original owner’s brother who inherited the vehicle, and myself.
Modifications:
- Mechanically the car is 100% stock
- 50% Window Tint all around (except for the windshield)
- Audio system was upgraded as follows:
o 2 x Focal 165K2P Speakers
o 2 x Focal 136K2P Speakers
o 1 x JBL 500.1 Amplifier for the subwoofer
o 1 x JBL 600.2 Amplifier for the speakers
o EQL sound equalizer
o 2 x JBL Power 10 subwoofers in a sealed custom enclosure
o ice>Link iPod Adapter (located in the glovebox)
Again, the car looks 100% stock inside. Everything functions just as it came from the factory.
Major Repairs/Maintenance:
- All scheduled maintenance was completed on time
- In between (either yearly or every 7,500 mi.) oil changes were performed as opposed to the standard 15k as recommended by BMW
- Records of all repairs are available. Car has been serviced at Perillo BMW by the same master tech that has serviced all my other BMWs in the past years.
Condition:
The car is in excellent condition. Like all vehicles that have been driven on public roads (or all vehicles that have 20k miles) there are some minor rock chips on the hood in addition to a minimal scuff on the front bumper. The interior leather is near perfect with minimal wear on the driver’s seat side bolster (common in M3s), the rest of the interior looks brand new.
The only area of the car that needs attention are the rear tires which should be replaced soon. I am planning on putting on Sumitomo HTR Z III 275/30ZR19 tires within the next two weeks, however if someone is would rather choose different tires, I would be happy to give a $500 discount off the price of the car. The front tires are Michelin Pilot Sport with about 5/32” of tread left on them.
The car has only been hand washed as evidenced by the condition of the paint. I do a full detail on all of my vehicles every 6 months. The car was recently clay barred. It is waxed with Meguiar’s NXT products every two months. The leather is conditioned and cleaned with Letherique products. The cloth top is treated monthly with BMW soft top Repellant.
About Me:
I am an avid car enthusiast and tend to favor BMW. I take meticulous care of all my cars and am extremely fastidious. They are all garaged and always pampered. I am an active member of multiple high end car forums and plan on listing the car for sale on each of them. Furthermore, this would be my fifth vehicle transaction via a forum: I purchased an M5 from a member on m5board.com, I sold the same car to a different m5board member, I sold my 330i to a member of euroteknik.com, and sold my 100RR to a member of sportbikes.net. I have a history of reliability in online transactions and would be happy to provide any interested parties with references.
At least for Illinois buyers, there is a significant tax savings by purchasing from an individual, so why buy from a dealer?
Lastly, I may be able to help with financing if desired.
Pricing info (to save you the trouble) as of 4/03/08:
Edmunds Private Party Clean Condition Value: $43,438 (but it’s closer to outstanding)
KBB Private Party Good Condition Value: $43,890 (but it’s closer to excellent)
NADA Clean Value: $44,225
The car is priced to sell at $42,995. I will consider all reasonable offers but please respect my time and I will respect yours.
Bottom line:
This is an amazing and relatively rare car at a great price.
Please see the attached pictures and I can email higher resolution pictures, and on request take additional pictures. Please note, I am using pictures from last year but plan on taking a number of hi-res pictures as soon as a nice day comes to Chicago.
I will ship anywhere in the USA at the buyer's expense.

Cosio, thanks for the kind words. Not sure yet what is next but I have a good idea LOL.
One thing I forgot to mention about the car is that I have a wheel and tire road hazard warranty/insurance that I purchased. This covers everything - potholes, nails, bent rims etc. with no deductible. It is transferable and it will stay with the car.
