Mini Cooper S Wheel Shopping

Hey everyone I'm thinking of putting some 18inch AC Schnizter wheels on my jet black MINI S. I am also considering OZ wheels. I want something decent no bling bling haha I would be curious to know what other mini owners think about 18inch rims and dif. offerings. Theres a pic of my baby below

how do you like your mini? I have been playing with the idea of getting a mini in place of the M5 just to have one for a while. What are the stock wheel sizes?

I have one - with the 17" wheels...not an M5 but for a go-kart its fun. It would be awesome if it was RWD, my only complaint. Overall I would recommend one for a practical commuter that gets over 30 MPG flogging the crap outta it and almost 40MPG on the highway. Its surprisingly torquey and doesnt have lag like you would expect from a 1.6L turbo...Turn-in is razor-precise, one thing it does better than the M5, probably because it has the advantage of being somewhere around 2600 pounds. Fun little weasel...

My stock wheels are 17inch. And I have'nt seen fuel economy like you're saying bugeater. I get a little about 24mpg on the highway and around 17-18 when im on it. This isn't just because of the dinan work. By the way the 2005 mini has a supercharger not a turbo.

Overall this car is an absolute blast. If I lived in a more rural area or drove on a less crowded highway system I would have an M3 or M5 right now. buttttttt traffic here in Houston can get kind of crazy (ppl here love to crash their cars and refuse to use turn signals). So I use my little black beast to weave in and out of this **** storm every day and I lvoe it. If I had anything faster I would be in jail...

Hey Scorpio I saw that you removed the Charcoal filter on your E60 M5 can you explain what that is exactly and what removing that accomplishes?

I would stay with a 17" for ride comfort. The OZ Ultraleggeras or Superleggeras (Supers no longer made - can sometimes find them used) are great choices, around 16 lbs each iirc. The stock S-lites you have are 25.5 lbs each.

I've been shopping myself. I have the 2 pc OEM web spoke wheels that are approx 22 lbs each - the lightest OEM MINI wheel, but still no lightweight! I haven't found anything that has really grabbed me yet, so am sticking with my web spokes as I really like the looks of them.

Good luck - the hunt is half the fun!

The secondary air filters are there because of CARB (California Air Resource Board) requirements.

Since I don't live in CA - I don't really care - and if you do live in CA, you shouldn't either - noone is going to check.

Removing the air filters increases the size of the air boxes and is really easy way to get 11-13hp to the wheel for a couple minutes of work!

Do a search on it and there is a great step-by-step pictorial of how to do it!
