EDIT - January 8, 2008...Adding the following incentives for any interested buyers:
Picked up new front brake pads, rotors, and sensor from the dealership this weekend (January 6, 2008). They will be included
at no charge for the buyer of the vehicle. The front brakes are at 20% pad life, so I can either include them in the trunk and you can use the rest of the remaining brakes up and install them yourself (or have your shop install them), or I can install them for you before you take delivery of the car at no charge...
All OEM parts, of course.
Also have new OEM thrust rod bushings which I will have my girlfriend install before a new owner takes delivery
also at no charge to the buyer. Again, these are OEM BMW parts straight from the dealership.
That's about $1500 worth of parts and labor,
at least, that will have this car in absolute tip top condition...at no charge to the new owner!
Please

The time has come to list the M5 for sale. Sadly I only have two garage space and three nice BMWs, and with my S50 E30 and M Coupe being more dear to my heart, the M5 is getting the boot.
I just spent four days detailing the car in the first week of September. I have been out of town traveling on business off and on since then, so I haven’t had time to list the car until now. Rest assured it’s been stored in the garage and only driven once (to display it at a BMW Club event last weekend) since the detailing.
I am 100% confident that this is one of, if not the cleanest M5 for sale right now. It’s also a rare combination of exterior color and interior color. Most Le Mans Blue M5s had blue and black interior leather, which looks great on small cars like the M Coupe (in fact my M Coupe has this option), but I prefer the all-black Sport interior on a large, stately car like the M5.

I purchased the car in late April 2006 from Dan Tackett & Tim Yost of Autobahn West. I had told Dan in January of 2006 what I wanted to find in an M5, specifically Le Mans Blue with the all black “Sport” interior and brushed titanium trim. Those of you who are reading this might know just how rare this combination is. I searched and searched, and Dan and Tim kept their eye on BMW’s west coast auctions for me, until Dan called me in late April to report that the exact car I wanted had shown up on the list of cars for the following day’s auction. I still have that phone message saved on my cellphone – just a cool sentimental thing to have, I guess. Anyhow, I gave Dan the OK to bid on the car for me, and the rest is history.
The car had 49,500 miles at the time of my acquiring it. I’ve driven less than 9,000 miles in the 17 months I’ve owned her. She has been garaged the entire time of my ownership. I had originally kept the M5 and my M Coupe in the garage, but in March of 2007 I had the opportunity to reacquire an E30 which I had previously owned and which is a very potently modified track car. I jumped at the chance, and found myself with three cars needing garage space. I was able to make it work until I moved into a new condo in July, at which point the M Coupe had to start sleeping outside so that the E30 and M5 could stay in the garage. The M Coupe has finally had enough, though, and has requested that it be allowed back into the garage…
As I mentioned, I spent four days detailing the car in early September. I used to do professional car detailing, so I decided that before I put the M5 up for sale I would give it one last good detailing. I started with a thorough washing with Meguiars soap, followed by a claybar treatment using Griots Garage clay. Incidentally, of all the clays I’ve ever tried, Griots has impressed me the most. I won’t use anything but Griots clay on my cars. After claying, the car was spot polished with 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound to take out any heavy scratching, then I polished the entire car with Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish. Finally I polished the car with Klasse All-In-One for a lasting acrylic polymer coating.
Before starting I removed all trim from the car. The four corner trims on the bumpers were cleaned with Griots Garage Dried On Wax Remover and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I then treated them with Mother’s Back To Black. The door mouldings weren’t perfect enough to put back on the car, so I ordered new door mouldings from the dealership and put them on after the polishing was complete. At this time I replaced the front BMW emblem (Roundel), as it showed some minor spiderwebbing in its clearcoat. I also cleaned and conditioned the leather with Lexol two-step cleaner and conditioner, as well as treating all vinyl surfaces with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Finally, I replaced the floormats with brand new OEM mats from the dealer.
Since I’ve owned the car I have changed the oil three times; Once just after purchase, once in late 2006, and once in early September 2007. Each time I have used BMW/Castrol TWS 10W-60 oil and an OEM filter from the BMW dealer. I have also had a Blackstone Labs report run with each oil change. Any prospective purchaser is welcome to view the Blackstone Labs test results.
I should add at this point that my girlfriend is a BMW Master Technician, so she has aided greatly in maintaining the vehicle. Specifically, she replaced the rear swaybar brackets (a common E39 M5 weak point) in October 2006. She also replaced the cabin microfilters (i.e. Charcoal Filters) in August 2006. In late 2006 I also added a few OEM Euro accessories to the car, particularly a trunk storage cubby found on Euro E39 models as well as a front ashtray delete consisting of a shallow storage tray, also from Euro E39 cars.
I had new tires fitted to the car in June 2007, less than 1000 miles ago. I chose Kumho MX tires, and so far I am very impressed with them. My girlfriend performed an alignment on the car immediately after the tires were fitted. In late June, I contacted BMWNA about several pixels in the instrument cluster temperature display (outside temperature) being burned out. BMW agreed to cover 100% of the parts and labor cost to have the cluster replaced, so it was replaced with a brand new OEM cluster. Mileage displayed is still the original mileage, since modern BMWs store mileage information outside of the instrument cluster. When the new cluster is coded to the car, the cars mileage is automatically input into the new cluster.
In August, my windshield was hit by a small rock on the highway, causing a crack. Since I’m a perfectionist, this wasn’t O.K., so I purchased a new OEM windshield and had it installed at the dealership.
Of course, all receipts from any repairs or upgrades performed during my ownership are included with the car. I’m meticulous about saving everything…
Finally, a bit about the body. The car had paintless dent removal performed throughout the body panels just after I purchased it. There is only one new ding since then, a small one on the front quarter panel. It’s barely noticeable, but it’s there. The car shows very few rock chips, because the previous owner had the front end resprayed and a new front bumper cover fitted to get rid of the existing rock chips. The new front bumper cover wasn’t drilled for a license plate mount, by the way, so there are no holes in it. The rear bumper cover was replaced with a new OEM piece in early 2007 due to someone backing into the car. I was careful to document the damage to the bumper cover (just a minor crack) and have all insurance paperwork showing the repair info. I had the bumper cover sprayed at one of the best paint shops in town, and it shows. The bumper is flawless.
As you might have noticed in the cars specification list, the original owner specified a rear spoiler delete when ordering the car. Since I like OEM M5 spoiler, I purchased a new OEM one when the rear bumper cover was being sprayed earlier this year, and had it sprayed at the same time. It has never been mounted. It, along with the mounting kit (basically a roll of BMW-branded double sided foam tape) will be included along with the car. I also have a color matched front license plate holder which was sprayed at the same time, though as I mentioned above no holes were ever drilled to install it into the front bumper.
Now, on to the photos. Please note that all but the first two photos were taken before I installed the new door mouldings and front Roundel. Other than those two things, the pictures show the car as it now sits (as seen in the first two photos)…
