It was great meeting all of you!
White looks surprisingly good on the E60 M5. It really puts the emphasis on the big vents, the black trim under the wing mirrors, the brake lights, all the wonderful M-specific bits. Very aggressive, very touring car-like. Great choice, Martin! It really has to be seen in person to be appreciated.
Same with Silver Grey.
The Silver Grey is very elegant and I've attached some pictures of just how nice it looks under a setting sun. It's got more depth than most pictures show and looks exquisite in person. Very high quality paint. It's actually pretty close to the Sterling Grey that we've got on the X5.
The red interior was also surprising. Indeed, it is much,
much darker in person and does not look anything like the bright tacky pictures that we've seen posted. It's really special, really classy.
Martin showed me the active side bolsters and on full squeeze, they felt like racing seats! The E39's seats are WAY too wide on my 5'6 frame and the adjustable bolsters make a ton of sense.
And that 'sound comparison' we did was a good laugh. I don't know where all those 'Diesel sound' comments are coming from because Martin's car sounded as deep and smooth as my E39 does on idle and when blipped, sounds like a frickin' Ferrari!!
Oh, and for all those people with new M5s wondering why it's sitting so high, it
does settle. This was evidenced by the white car (4k kms) being noticeably lower than the Grey one (brand new).
Anyway, it was great meeting you guys and putting some faces to names. We need to go for a drive in spring! Let's do sea-to-sky and Duffy Lake Road.
