Vancouver Meet Pics!

This was from this thread.

It was great meeting all of you!

White looks surprisingly good on the E60 M5. It really puts the emphasis on the big vents, the black trim under the wing mirrors, the brake lights, all the wonderful M-specific bits. Very aggressive, very touring car-like. Great choice, Martin! It really has to be seen in person to be appreciated.

Same with Silver Grey.

The Silver Grey is very elegant and I've attached some pictures of just how nice it looks under a setting sun. It's got more depth than most pictures show and looks exquisite in person. Very high quality paint. It's actually pretty close to the Sterling Grey that we've got on the X5.

The red interior was also surprising. Indeed, it is much, much darker in person and does not look anything like the bright tacky pictures that we've seen posted. It's really special, really classy.

Martin showed me the active side bolsters and on full squeeze, they felt like racing seats! The E39's seats are WAY too wide on my 5'6 frame and the adjustable bolsters make a ton of sense.

And that 'sound comparison' we did was a good laugh. I don't know where all those 'Diesel sound' comments are coming from because Martin's car sounded as deep and smooth as my E39 does on idle and when blipped, sounds like a frickin' Ferrari!!

Oh, and for all those people with new M5s wondering why it's sitting so high, it does settle. This was evidenced by the white car (4k kms) being noticeably lower than the Grey one (brand new).

Anyway, it was great meeting you guys and putting some faces to names. We need to go for a drive in spring! Let's do sea-to-sky and Duffy Lake Road.

Another two white ones for BD, just to make the waiting even harder.

Look how cool those mirrors look on white!

Re: Vancouver Meet Pics!

Thanks to all of you for showing up on foggy/sunny/cold sunday! It was nice to put faces to new names! Thank you for the pictures too, my digital camera stopped working recently so I'm out of picture-taking abilities for now.

The E60 M5's look so much better in person! Both colors were absolutly beautiful in their own way. The red interior surprised me by it's rich rather than eye-catching look. The level of finition and attention to details in these cars is phenomenal. A definite step-up from the E39 M5 (not that it was bad in that case)

Today was also a reminder that the E39 M5 is still a stunning car, the V8's rumble and the typical BMW appearance have made the E39 a classic. Once again, thanks for showing up and we'll get together again very soon!

P.S. I know someone asked to meet again next weekend...

Re: Vancouver Meet Pics!

Its definitely a great meet!!
It was surprising how the 645 was actually louder than the E39, but they do have a similar tone.

I'm definitely gonna come to the next meet, but it would be nice to see more of you guys coming!!!The drive in Spring will be awsome too, and we should do it!

Another meet next week endwould be great if it is not going to rain, and it would be amazing if e60beast can get his Lambo friend to join .

Re: Vancouver Meet Pics!

Guys (and gal)
Thanks for the meet! I had a great time meeting you guys and putting faces to names!... Vancooper thanks for setting it up.
Despite the sunny/cold/foggy day, it was pretty good weather for mid-december...

Martingan, the alpine white is stunning in real life, and really defines the M5's lines. Thanks for the exhaust 'show'. The silver grey was stunning as well, and just as great was the indy red interior it had! KahunaCanuck, you made a great choice!
I was suprised at how the sound settles once Martin had his running for a few minutes, plus more mileage. It has a soft deep purr that sounds exotic.
It sounded fantastic when you two pulled off onto the road!

The timeless E39 is what shaped the sport sedan market! When oppositelock rolled into the lot, I couldnt help but miss my 2001 M5 I just sold, even though my E60 is just right around the corner...

No matter what color or interior you see, pictures do this fantastic car no justice, a real beast in real life!...

thanks for the pics too

cheers
