M5board PLUS MBWORLD GTG at Moroso (Palm Beach) - Fri Dec 9th 5pm

Hi all

I am a new member here and own an E55, but absolutely love what the new M5 brings to the uber sedan fest. Despite what has been written on the various forums, I beleive that most of us M5/E55 owners greatly respect each others vehicles, and realize each brings something different to the table

But anyway, now that that is our of the way, I was hoping to invite some Florida M5 owners to one of the last Moroso Test and Tune nights before they close the strip for December.

Really hoping that we can get some freindly M5-E55 freindships built up here in South Florida

I am going up Friday Dec 9th around 5 pm and hope that some M5 board members with M5s will join our some of our MBWorld forum members for a fun time at the strip. The weather is getting cooler and oxygen is getting denser.

The track opens at 5pm and stays open to 11pm - entry is $15.00. You should be able to get a minimum of 3 runs in possible 4. If you expect to be in the 12's you will need a helmet - they can be rented trackside.

This time last year I took my first run down the 1/4 mile and couldnt get the grin off my face for at least a month. It was a total blast. You can see my report of my first drag racing experience at

http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/sho...hlight=siswati

This time I am hoping to take at least a chunk off my now very lame time of my 12.5 which I ran the same week last year when my beast was new (1,200miles). (Launch method was the almighty STOMP - granny mode, ESP on Comfort Setting). This time I'm gonna be real sophisticated and see if I can FEEEEEEED the gas in smoothly, and run with ESP off.

Hope to see a few of you there - plesae dont hesitate to PM me for more details

Regards
Siswati

I hope we have soem well run in M5 here, but from reading from the posts it doesnt look so. Lets do an event when members know how to launch properly with the LC and everything is well run in.

This will likely require the import of a European model or at least the transplant of its SMG software setup (is this in the ECU, or elsewhere?). My bet is that a well-broken-in M5 could play with and beat most stock E55s with a high-RPM LC (a good-sticky track could probably use the full 5000rpm), but at the US 1600 rpm launch, the M5 is dead meat against the torquey E55s.

Speaking of transplanting the SMG program, I hope someone is thinking about this. The E39 forum posted revisions to the Nav program that were less than officially sanctioned, and we need to do the same for other desired features such as fixes to US LC and change/retention of the various default settings. Would this require DISplus hardware/capability? If so, is this available outside BMW dealerships, even unofficially?

Americans really like 402 m races. I always liked this expression:
Fun is more than just a straight line! And, it should last for more than just 402 meters!

Anyway, hope to see some M5s there. Please make some videos

Even if you dont run your car, come on over next Friday - its a real fun laid back scene and you are sure to make some new friends - everyone there LOVES cars - whether they run 9 secs or 17 seconds everyone is having a blast - its very social and for all we share nothing but appreciation for everyones efforts down the strip, no matter what we run(very different to what I expected)

Good initiative. Although don't think anyone has a run-in M5 in Florida yet...
