Socal LA meet and greet!

Looks like there are enough LA Socal M5's interested in getting together...now we just need to pick a place and a time. My first choice will be Saturday, October 16th...I think a westside location would probably be central to most folks - maybe a Starbucks, restaurant or something with a decent sized parking area.

In the past we've had the Malibu meets where Hamann7 escorts us through his canyon racetracks, and you try to keep your car off the rock wall and not go off the cliff on the other side either...but I'm thinking of this being more of a casual meet and greet, show n' shine, poser type of thing...

Who's in?

Re: Socal LA meet and greet!

Sounds good to me, but I don't know the westside well enough to suggest a location. I don't have anything planed for Oct 16 yet.
I wouldn't mind a canyon run or a drive up the Angeles Crest Hwy or something though.

We could do it in two stages...canyon run followed by a meet/greet function. When I did the Malibu run, somehow I got to be the #2 car behind Hamann7, and I had only had my car for a week! Somehow I stayed with him, but I felt like I held others back...and Hamann7's blip-throttle downshifts were putting me to shame! After my car undergoes it's first set of performance mods next week and then I get my first BMWCCA autocross done on Aug 10th, I'll probably be better prepared to run with the big boys...

Folks, I wish we can change the date, maybe Oct 23rd....I'll be at Laguna Seca on Oct 16th for the Le Mans Race, but I'd be more than happy to meet the following weekend if possible...and wouldn't mind a scenic drive either, thanks..let me know

Ed

I think the two stage idea is an excellent idea. I just got back from a trip I won to test drive the new 168 HP, BMW K1200S, on the Nurburgring, courtesy of BMW Motorrad. After 33 laps in 2 days on the Nordschleife, I think I've used up most of my nine lives for the month. If we can push the date out about 4-5 weeks, perhaps more people can make the event. Sounds like a great idea.

Re: Socal LA meet and greet!

Either date sounds good to me. We might want to stay out of the canyons, however. In recent months, more than a few cars have gone over and it's now crawling with CHP and Sheriffs.

10/30 or 11/6

How do October 30th or November 6th sound to everyone. I wonder if those with kids might not have some pre-Halloween duties on the 30th however...
