C'mon Neil! It will be another 100 miles to Atco so you will have those additional miles. And where did you ever read/hear about having to break in a rear? And if its gonna fail, you're better off having it happen while it's under warranty. We'll all swear that it happend on a drive to the Jersey shore.

If you have to back out at least give us the real reason. That puppy you described just won't hunt. And Harry was sooo looking forward to running you with the S3

Seriously, Neil. That's the worst excuse ever. Is your skirt at the dry cleaners too?? j/k man. Wish you could make it. The 5'ers need to represent!

Ray, looking forward to running your S3. Once I learn to launch properly and get the tires to hook, I should hopefully give Harry a good run for his money, but I have no delusions that I'll ever take a race from him. Faster car + better driver = me watching the back of your car everytime

Why do I get the feeling that you're trying to lull us to sleep with this uncharacteristic, excessive display of modesty? Multiowner (Bob) managed to crack 11.9s on several runs with his E60 and your car shouldn't be all that different. Launch + hookup as you note is the key. Snooze you lose - don't worry about the guy next to you; focus on the tree. Try and have fun and learn from your experiences.

Ha! "Uncharacteristic"???? Hopefully, you guys know I talk trash only in fun (except when it comes to AJ, in which case I mean every word of it). I'll probably be pulling 13's all day b/c I'm a track newb.
I'll have a lot to overcome on Monday. Hooking is one. I hope playing with pressures will help, b/c everytime I mash the throttle with my current setup, I fishtail like a mo'fo up through 3rd gear.
Second, like you said, I need to focus on the tree. Guess a little trial and error with the lights and I'll get my RT's below 3 seconds before the end of the day

Regardless, I'm psyched b/c I get to thrash the car, hang out with cool car guys, AND not be at work!

When are you heading down? Are you meeting up with Harry on the way or at the track. Depending on when you leave, do you want to drive down together?

The present plan is for me to pick up Harry at his house in Elizabeth around 10:00 AM and head out from there. Would love to have you along. It's a little later than I would have liked but Harry has to work late. There is also a possibility that we might meet up with some other folks at the big Exxon station by the Goethals Bridge/NJ Turnpike entrance. What time were you planning to leave?

Maybe a bit later than I was planning. Also depends on whether or not I plan on stopping by work in the morning before I leave. Was hoping to get there no later than 10-11. How far does Harry live from Atco?

Harry is almost equidistant from either Exit 135 on the GSP or Exit 13 on the NJ Tpke. Then you've got a good 1.5 hour drive from his house to Atco (Exit 4 on the NJ Tpke) unless your name is Alex Roy.

The last time we were at Atco, even arriving late, we had a dozen runs in by 1:00 PM.
You can literally keep making runs as hot laps until your clutch leg cramps up. Oops, forgot you don't have one of those. Remember, we're talking a total of about 15 cars that will be participating and quite often nobody is lining up.

Given that this is your first time I guess I'd recommend you get there as early as possible to start practicing your launches and reacting to the starting tree. I don't know what the conventional wisdom is these days, but back 'when' (30+ years ago?) I used to try and go on the last amber. It seemed to work pretty well for me. I'd also do a search of the threads for what other people are doing regarding staging and launching the E60. Go get 'em Tiger!

Ray
