BMW Day Englishtown Oct 13th Saturday

Anyone interested in going to Raceway Park this Saturday for the BMW Style Fest. I believe alot of M3's and Track BMW's. Sound like it may be in need of some M5's. If anyone is interseted in going, please leave a reply.

Heres's a link from other forum

Already back

I met thrilos5 and maikosG down there. Here is my cut and past job from Mbworld. I need to jet.

There was NOBODY there. No staging lanes at all. Just hot-lap after hot-lap. I got there after 11 and ran ten runs before the closed the staging lanes for time trials at 12:15.

Didn't get into the 11's. I kept tripping the ESP on each run and only managed a best 60' time of 1.85, with lots of 1.9's.

Still, I ran a best of 12.086 @ 117.11 on a 1.887 60' time. I also had a 12.099 and seven 12.1's. My worst run was a 12.291 @ 116.92 when I completely killed the launch with a 2.045 60' time, and the car practically stopped while the ESP intervened.

I literally hot-lapped the first 5 runs stopping only to reduce my tire pressure before my first run and to throw some gas in it after run 4 because it was on reserve fuel. I went straight from tech inspection to the staging lanes, left the car running while I lowered my tire pressure, and made run after run.

First run was a 12.099 @ 117.13, followed by: 12.159 @ 117.15; 12.291 @ 116.92; 12.089 @ 116.77 and 12.138 @ 116.64. She was consistent.

My last 4 runs were head to head against a Dinan S3 M5 driven by an M5Board member who was substituting for the owner. For those that don't know, that is the top of the line performance enhanced E39 M5, supercharged. It is a beast. The driver of the M5 was much better at the tree and had much better reaction times. My 60' times were a bit better than his. Here is the breakdown of the races, all hot-laps with only a few minutes between runs:

S3 .................................................. ............... Me

12.444 @ 116.73, 2.146 ................................. 12.133 @ 116.63, 1.905 (S3 won by .0757)
13.008 @ 113.92, 2.083(missed 2nd) ..................12.145 @ 116.98, 1.934 (I won by .4230)
12.375 @ 115.40, 1.959 .................................. 12.086 @ 117.11, 1.887 (S3 won by .1472)
13.171 @ 108.01, 2.146 (let up) .......................12.166 @ 116.99, 1.929 (I won by 1.20)

The right lane 1/8 speed measurement wasn't working, so there was no way to judge how much speed the S3 picked up after the 1/8, but my feeling was that it really had some top end pull. I could feel myself reeling it in for the first 1/8 at a pretty decent clip, but once he hit 3rd, you could see that the cars were fairly even. That car is a beast.

The owner's name is Dan. I didn't catch his screen name. Very nice guy.

There were no E60's there in the morning. I have to say, as did the announcer, there were very, very few BMW's there. I had expected a much bigger crowd.

There were some very, very fast M3's (from two generations ago). I saw one run in the mid 10's.

I don't think that I am wrong when I say that there were maybe 12 BMW's there this morning. And only half of them were running. That's too bad, as the weather was nice.

Englishtown S3 v E55

Enzom,

Nice write-up but unfortunately you didn't win that last race - the S3 (#3385) did because you red-lighted (-0.04 R/T ) shown on the first thumbnail and Harry let off...
Final score
S3 -3
E55 - 1
All kidding aside, we freely admit that the E55 for the most part had better ET's and mph and it was Harry's driving that made all the difference. Today was the S3's first outing. Its best ET was 12.375 and best mph was 116.73. And of course it had some teething problems, the most significant of which was a major shifting problem which will be corrected for the rematch

Whats up guys!

Ray,

Nice meeting you buddy and hope to do this again soon!

Lorenzo,
Nice seeing you again!

There were alot more BMW's there including an M6, supercharged M3's and Azavedos beast. Its a shame no one else was running.

Better for us. I got 9 runs in 1 hour and 15 minutes with alot of stops. Honestly I could of gotten at least 20 easily.

Take care,
Mike

Boner, It was an incredible day - the place was deserted in the morning. Mike got in 15 runs with his M3 in an hour and 15 minutes with a lot of breaks in between. The 'vaunted', 'over-hyped' (now where did someone use those adjectives?) S3 acquitted herself quite well... I hope you'll be able to make it next time. We had a lot of fun.
