Hey Ray, thanks for the offer to drive your S3 it was a great experience!

guys we had a fun day at the track today, the weather was perfect and we had as many runs as we wanted
I took it easy with Ray's S3 since it was my first time driving and I wasn't used in his short throw shifter, also didn;t want to break anything, the S3 did pretty well even with conservative shifting it managed 117mph thats M6 territory, also it had a lot left in it, with a more aggresive launch and shifting the car is capable of a lot better times

also the runs were made with the stock 3:15 diff and not the Dinan 3:45, I think the 3:45 diff would help the supercharger make full boost a lot faster, but the S3 pulls very hard on top of the 3rd and 4th the rush of power is never ending but the rev limiter shuts the fun down at 7300rpm

we had some very fun and interesting runs with Enzom's AMG and Maikosg's e46 M3
I try to post some videos tommorow

Final score
S3 -3
E55 - 1
All kidding aside, we freely admit that the E55 for the most part had better ET's and mph and it was Harry's driving that made all the difference. Today was the S3's first outing. Its best ET was 12.375 and best mph was 116.73. And of course it had some teething problems, the most significant of which was a major shifting problem which will be corrected for the rematch

Ray
Ray -

You have a very fast ride. Get behind the wheel and practice, practice, practice. I really wish the slips showed your 1/8 speed, because I think your car had great performance at the top end.

Let me know when you are heading down again so that we can try to meet up.

And yes - I red-lighted that last run. But it was -0.004, not -.04. Talk about "cutting it close".

There were some very, very fast M3's (from two generations ago). I saw one run in the mid 10's.

I don't think that I am wrong when I say that there were maybe 12 BMW's there this morning. And only half of them were running. That's too bad, as the weather was nice.
Nope the owners name was Ray...LOL...and Harry was driving...nice job...So Ray....happy with the showing???...would love to make it out there one day.
Glad you all had fun and it was a safe day!

I knew there was an "a" in it and it had three letters.

Seriously, I am terrible with names. I think I actually called him Dan, too.

Sorry, Ray.

Lorenzo (that is your name isn't it?), I'm terrible with names too so no need to apologize. You are a real good sport and it was fun watching the cars compete. Not many guys would have been as honest as you were in describing the action and thanks for the S3 compliments.

The 1/8 mile mph measurement was completely screwed up in the left lane and we didn't get any correct readings. The S3's best 1/8 ET was 8.088 with a 1/4 mile time of 12.375. You are correct about the S3's top end performance. This is where she really shows her stuff. I'm told that Steve Dinan's (now Martin's) S3 was clocked at 209 mph with the stock 3.15 rear.

If I decide to get serious about going to the drags, I may take out the 3.15 stock rear and re-installing the 3.45 I had in her when she was an S2.

Sorry about my goof on your R/T on the last run. Looking forward to meeting you again in the near future.
