Atco Rental - December 4th or 5th

Atco got back to me this morning. November is all booked up, but December 4th (Tues.) and 5th (Wed.) are open.

Figure it will be about $150 per car for 15 cars. Who's in?

Could you please give a bit of info on location/venue? How long will the event be and is it a full track?

Atco is a 1/4 mile drag strip near Jackson, NJ. It is about 1.5 hours Southwest of the George Washington Bridge. Their website is www.atcorace.com.

We would have the track from 9 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. Both lanes would be well prep'd, and 15 cars can run as often as they'd like. Trust me, you will have more than enough time to run, compare notes, switch cars, etc. I always have enough by 2:00 and leave.

The first week of December wasn't my first choice, but October and November are fully booked. And Englishtown only allows you to use one lane and is more expensive.

Will it be cold?? Given that we hit 89 yesterday in NYC, who the heck knows anymore. I look at it this way, if the rental was for November 26th, I'd be psyched that I'd get to run on a great track on a day when it was likely to be in the 40's. We are talking about a date that is only a little over a week later. Just dress for the weather.

So why only 15 cars? if everybody can get so many runs in. I certainly wouldnt want it to be crowded but I dont see myself wanting to run the quarter more than 5 or 6 times just to get a good number.

Track rules for private rentals at Atco. I would like to see more cars, too.

Work makes either difficult, but if you can get the Wednesday, I MAY be able to be 'sick' that day

Good question. Typically, they hold your deposit and you reschedule. But the manager told me this morning that they will be tearing up the facilities the following week, so I don't think it is possible.

What I plan to do is to collect checks next month from those that are coming so I don't get stuck having to foot the bill for no-shows. I would not cash the checks until after the event. If it gets cancelled because of the weather, then I would return (or destroy) the checks. If a participant bails and we can't find someone else to take the slot, then the check gets cashed.

Assuming I get at least 14 people to tell me by tomorrow afternoon that they are interested, I will book the Wednesday date (in case Boner gets "sick").
