You need a helmet (can't tell you the rating off hand), a seatbelt and that's about it unless you are running well under 11.5's.
Shite. Forgot about the helmet thingy. Did you buy yours, L? The thought of renting a helmet kinda gives me the heeby jeebies.

You can borrow mine.

Actually, you can't rent helmets at track rentals. You can't even rent them at E-town on race days. They are now enforcing rules that require you to have a "real" race helmet. I was forced to buy one at E-town for $120 the first time I went to the strip this season.

Thanks, L. But for $120, I can probably spring for one. Besides, my head is GINORMOUS
Are they the completely enclosed ones with face shield kinds or just the ones that cover your noggin? If it's the former, I figure I can also use it for track days when I can manage to make one of those.

largehead (couldn't resist)-

They are completely enclosed but the visor (which raises and lowers) can be fully removed by popping up the retaining clips. Call the track shop at Englishtown. I was not able to find anything of comparable quality on the internet for anything close to that price.

Good luck.

Danke. Just so it won't collect dust, it'll give me an excuse to get out to the track

Funny you say that. It comes with a cloth storage sack, so it won't get dusty. But it is $120 that is wasted unless you use the darn thing. I am sure it has made me go to the strip at least three times this year when I would have rather done something else.

Still on.

I am going to Atco on Monday (11/12) to run with some Corvette guys who invited me. They will have one lane fully sprayed (which costs more) and one lane sprayed to the 330' mark (which is standard). That rental costs $175 pp. I am going to run on the standard lane and see if I think we need to fully spray a lane.

Sometime next week, I will PM all who said yes and ask them to send me a check for $150 or a few bucks more if we are going to spray one full lane.
