Hi guys....
This thread is starting to look like something I would expect in many other forums, but not here, unless in the gumball section.....
What are we really discussing here.
We all know the CL55, E55, SL55 and the rest of the Kompressor monsters will eat any M5 for breakfast any thing equall. Thats a fact, even we like it or not.
Same thing with the 996 Turbo.
We will just wait until the new M5 hit the streets to put things right again....
When I had my Bi Turbo I was walked so bad it was not fun by a SL55, and the BiTurbo is in the M5 area when it comes to straigh line performance.A race with the 996 Turbo also showd that the Bi Turbo could give it a fair fight in speed from app 110 mph and up thrue app 135 mph, at least when I was in his shadow...
BUT. All this cars are so fast and build mph so fast that even a small mistake in the start is gonna be tough to make up for.
Race against the Turbo Porsche.
I can belive that. The Porshce is a Turbo and even though the Torbo lag is more or less gone it still takes a bit of time until it spools up to full pressure.
If both of this cars are side by side at app 20 mph and hit it simultanously my guess is that the instant power of the M5 will bring it ahead for a short periode. The sprint from 20 mph and into 3 gear takes what.... less than 4 sec, not much time to make up for a loss of a few meters in the start of the race
I did not see if this particular Porsche was a sluch box or a stick, but the Slush box will probably use a little longer to chach up with the M5.
But it is not question who will winn. The Porsche is just faster.
From a dead stop it would look funny if the Porsche was started at full power
The race against the CL55 does sound a bit strange. Any of the 55 kompressor powered AMG will take out the M5, some more than others.
I seriously doubt that an M5 will gain much in practical performance with just a exhoust and some electrinal modification, even if many claim "phantasy" numbers.
But some are faster than other and several have made mid to high 12 sec run, nut most if the time they are 13 sec cars. I also have a mid 12 sec stock M3 on video, but this are also related to extremply skilled drivers.
So is this story belivable ? I have no problems beliving that an M5 can outrun the CL55 in the start and stay ahead for a while, but I think it is strange that the CL55 started to catch up and then stayed side by side all the way.
But then again, on the streets a lot of things can happend and it is very seldom the result is comparable it normaly says more about the driving skills, headstart and other driver related actions.
So what, we all know the M5 is not the faster car of the cars meantioned in this thread, but as I have stated before in another thread, I much rather win because of my driving skills than because I have the faster car.
So please cool down, take both cars to the track and make a bet instead of writing all this nonsens...........
