GT3 RS production

I know this is not the correct site but was wondering.

Anyone know production numbers for the RS, most dealers I spoke with will not take anymore deposits. They claim approx. 225 cars to be built for the 07 model year. Some dealers are getting none yet the largest US dealer will get 8 units.

I was told their may be some iteration of the RS in 08. Yet none of the articles written so far state limited production as was the case with the GT.

Porsche has changed their MO over the last few years RE: profitability. I would hope they will go into a second model year.

If you are looking to put a deposit down, try Champion Porsche in Pompano Beach, FL. They are one of, if not the largest in the country. I dont know anything about their orders but worth a shot.

According to Excellence (Feb 2007), Porsche hasn't capped production but current capacity is 3 cars per day. They estimate 1000-1100 GT3RSes in the lifespan of the 997 series, which is likely another two or three model years.

Thanks Mike,

I have a vacation home in Ft Lauderdale, spoke with a rep at Champion, initially they were going to take a dposit then refused. Claims they are allocated 8 cars and have over 50 deposits.

if u're looking for a place to put deposit down it's already to late. my dealer only got 3 allocated i had to fight hard to get the 3rd one. my friend is paying 20k over for it since he has to have it. i'm guessing Porsche will make it 08 but nothing is certain since the facelift of the regular 997s is coming out end of 2007. so far the RS is very limited. 229 coming to the states some dealers will not even get one.

You have to question why a dealer would take that many deposits on such an allocated car. I realize poeple drop off the list or pass on cars but that seems a little much.

Does anyone know what the allocation is like for the GT3?

Good luck with your search.

I put a deposit down hoping for 08 production, see what happens. I was told they make a similar car in 08. My guess would be same specs re: suspension and maybe light weight but probably not carrying the RS name and retro colors.

Good luck with yours, when do you expect it and what colors did you choose.
