Thicker Steering Wheel Option question

I have become used to the very thick steering wheels of the M5 and the Porsche wheel is just so thin. Has anyone ordered the factory "thicker steering wheel option"? Does it make a lot of difference? Also, I would like to get the carbon fiber option - can I get a thicker wheel with the carbon fiber option too?

I know that techart and even Ruf make a thicker wheel, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about a factory option.

I was used to driving my Audi S3 before and then switching to driving the TT on the weekends i just didnt like the steering wheel. I agree its just too thin. I havent heard of a thinker steering wheel option from porsche but you should go with the gemballa or techart 320mm steering wheels. they are smaller and thicker. I would go with that if they were available in tiptronic

Thanks - evidently the the thicker wheel is now a factory option, but any of the special finishes (carbon, aluminum, etc..) conflict with it. FYI.

The code is CPZ, but you can only find it in the 2004 preliminary guide. I think it must have been a late addition, because I'm pretty sure you could order it on 2003 cars at some point.

Another interesting tidbit that I didn't know about - you can order GT3 wheels on the Turbo for 2004. I like 'em. What do you guys think?

That 04 guide has ruined my day!!
Options I am now trying to retrofit are CCP (alu look PCM package), CUVT (storage bin lid with turbo), CCW (Belt outlet in Alu-look) and CSVL + CSVR (Electric sports seats - FINALLY!! I've owned 2 other 996s and always requested that but never got it!!)

I made a mistake - it's in the 2003 guide, too.
