996TT with GT2 handling?

I have a question for all the Porsche experts in this forum. Is it possible to order a 996TT with the suspension/tire components from the GT2 and will this make the car handle like a GT2? I am really impressed by the handling of the GT2 but feel that a TT would be a more sensible car to get, especially if the 'magical' handling abilities of the GT2 somehow can be ported to the TT.

I think alot of the reasons the GT2 handles so well and in some respects better than the turbo is because of...

About 200 pounds in weight is saved..loss of sound insulation..rear seats etc..

The ceramic brakes are something like 30% lighter than the steel rotors and thus due to the lower unsprung weight handle would be improved..

It also handles so well because it is sprung extremeley hard...I remember lonman saying that if he parked both of the drivers side wheels on the kerb the other two would still be suspended in mid air..no chassis flex..

Anyhow welcome to the ever growing club of turbo soon to be owners

all the best

I am no Porsche expert but I have a feeling that the 996tt will never handle as well as the GT2 due to the awd. From the rides I have been on in a 996tt, it is not so much about handling as it is about grip. The awd system adds a lot of weight and probably uses some different parts then the GT2 suspension. I may be completely off base but I think you will have a hard time converting the 996tt into a GT2. I think the handling difference is minimal anyway when it comes to street driving, of course, we bmwM5.com guys do not drive normally .
