The first 935 Porsche was driven by Rolf Stommelmann. The car didn't turn at T9 @ 160mph. He was killed this day. The team mate car (just behind) won the 6 hour event. There was nothing left of the car that was larger than a deck of cards.

I still remember the scream of the V-12 Jags!
The Porche 935's were owned by Jerry David Dominelli. (JDAVID RACING.) He went to prison for scamming people in the junk bond era. Now we know what he spent the money on! The other 935 (Al Holbert driving) won the race. The next year, the 962's showed up...

I remember the V-12 Jags too, but the Mazda Rotary's were the ones you could hear a few turns away!
