I redesigned my exhaust with some food grade stainless recently to look like the staggered OEM set up. (E39) I have straight pipes from the resonators back) I then had a few members ask me to make them some pipes too. Thread is here...

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e3...1415-custom-muffler-deleted-exhaust-tips.html

I can make pipes anyway you want them, just give me some specifics. The pipe I have is 3" food grade stainless which I can polish up pretty nice. It won't be a "chrome" finish, but a very nice brushed finish. I can also media blast a custom design into the pipe if you wish. See last pic below of my pipes.....

My custom pipes...

A little dirty in this pic, sorry.....

Do you have a price in mind? Is it extra to do the media blasting?

I am doing it on a person by person basis now because everyone wants something different. I already made 2 sets for members on this board. I am hoping they will post up their results when they get them installed. I am not making hardly anything on these, not looking to really. I just enjoy hooking up fellow members with custom stuff for their Beasts. As of now I have a VERY limited amount of pipe as it is VERY expensive and hard to come by.

Example:

Full set of tips with "Y" pipe which means it will have a 2.5" input and the dual 3" output without custom media blast will be $300.

4 peices of pipe, 12" long, polished without media blast, ready for install will be $125.

Media blasting will be extra and will depend on what is needed because I need to get the vinyl stickers from a local vendor. I am trying to work out a deal with them for a discounted price for more work....

Please ask if anyone needs more info. I am well known by several members on the board to be an honest guy. They will probably be chiming in and busting my chops pretty soon......hiha

Timmy

I can personally vouch for this guys work. I just received my custom 3inch SS exhaust tips, polished both inside and out. They look great and will post some pics Friday night after the install. Tim was great to deal with and anybody wanting to enhance the look of their exhaust tips should shoot this man a PM!

Just a heads up about Tims passion and commitment to our cars is quite impressive. As an example take this week... He has a rotating schedule at his work and this is his off week. He usually goes into work to make extra money for his family but this week... Monday: spent most of the day fixing his wheel bearing (after he had been at work all night) Tuesday: helped a fellow member change his diff fluid/brakes/tranny fluid and fix that members rear door vapor leaks. Wednesday I think he worked and made some money Thursday: he drove 1.5 hours to help me, fix my rear door vapor barriers/ re-wire my angel eyes/ install a spoiler/ install a euro-dash/ and an aftermarket tire pressure monitor. Friday: he changed his plugs.

Does that give you guys any idea how insanely committed and passionate he is about our cars? Not only that but how stand up he is?

Oh and what he is charging for these custom pipes, its such a steal its not even funny.

Bump for my boy.

Sad news! I took my beast to the shop and they gave me the bad news. The tips Tim made me cannot be welded on to my BB mufflers. I hadn't really thought about the new tips being bigger and the BB stock tips being so close together. There is not enough room for the larger tips. So for now, I am stuck with the terrible looking rolled tips grrrrrrr

I am lost for ideas. I like the BB sound far better than the Magnaflows so in order to get tips I actually like, I would have to order an expensive muffler system and try and sell the BB. Not happy right now...Love everything on my car but those tips....make me want to yuke

I would suggest taking it to another shop. I do not see any reason why they can't do what you want. Send me some pics of your B&B tips if you get a second. I looked at my stock exhaust last night, that would be an easy mod on the stock mufflers.

Mmmmm, I can't wait. I just got quoted $120 by "Jimmy's Muffler Shop" to have mine installed. Get to work Timmay! jk. V-Man, I am going to take in your pictures and tell them to do it like that. Those are beautiful.

Wasnt it you who the other day, called me a whore for CFiber? Or was it a slut? I cant remember...

Anyway, Hey kettle, Im pot.

hahaha.

Ok, so i have decided to go somewhere between the blacked out and the cfiber look. Any thoughts on me powdercoating these exhaust tips black? I dont know that i have ever seen black exhaust tips. Granted the insides wil be black in a week. I need some opinions, maybe a picture.

I personally have my tips attached with a stainless steel clamp so I can remove them if needed. If I need to take off the exhaust, I can remove them so they do not get damaged, or so I can put on a different set. I plan on making myself another set, probably flat black, just so I can switch it up a bit if I want to.

I can always make you 2 sets. Lol.

#24 ·
no, im going to hold off on the powdercoating. ship em!

Should finish them up tonight. The 4 pipes are polished and ready to weld. I may need to raise the price on these again, it is just taking me too fricken long to polish these tips. I am literally SORE from working on these. I did a set of 4 pipes yesterday, and worked on your tips last night. I spent close to 12 hours yesterday just polishing pipe. (LOL, I'm so nasty) After all that, I look forward to the headache of lining everything up and welding it together!!

Should have a tracking number for you this evening......

Tim is an expert "pipe polisher". :hihi: Its just what I hear. I cant speak from experience since Im running stock "pipes".

HA!

Those are some shiny pipes. I just finished doing the carbon fiber fabric interior over my wood trim. Now I think my beast deserves a growl. I can't wait to hear it. I'm going to have my friend drive circles around me for an hour so I can listen to my exhaust.

Bump for some sweet pipes and a great way to customize your beast.

Got mine installed yesterday. I think they may be detrimental to my health, as all I want to do now is park in the garage and rev my engine. (closed space + exhaust fumes = bad news). Notice from the pictures I had them paint the connector pipes and the heat/sound? shield black to blend into the underbody. Also, they cut off the screw on connector thing and just welded them straight on.

These things are sick and they definitely do not help me get good gas mileage, as I am flooring it at every opportunity just to hear them sing. At normal driving around I can't even tell a difference. If anyone is on the fence because they are worried about noise, don't be. The M5 has so much sound insulation that the only time you can hear a difference is when you are giving it the juice. Definitely a GREAT mod, thank you very much Timmay.

My car is filthy right now, so I am holding out on a complete picture thread. But once, I get the badges all redone be prepared for a 56k warning.

You can sort of see my tinted taillights in this picture.
