Custom "muffler deleted" exhaust tips

I am in the process of fabricating a set of custom exhaust tips for "M CINCO". I bought Magnaflow tips originally when I deleted my mufflers, but was not fully satisfied with the look of them. I wanted to retain the staggered look, but all the ones I found for sale were slant cut, double walled, or had rolled edges. I want plain old stainless pipe, straight cut, with a raw pipe edge just like stock or the Dinan kit. I decided to get some food grade stainless pipe from work and make some. I plan on modifying the Magnaflow tips so I can use the "Y' part and just weld on my new custom tips. I like the look of the Dinan tips how they are staggered AND have "Dinan" etched into them. I am going to have "///M5" etched into my custom tips for a little extra flare. I have buddy who can media blast, so we are going to get a vinyl sticker made with the ///M5 cut out and media blast the symbol onto the stainless. The vinyl sticker will protect the rest of the pipe from the blasting so it will stay polished, while the ///M5 will look dull. Not quite etched like the Dinan pipes, but much more cost effective. I should have it done by the end of the week.

I am also open to suggestions on other things to etch on the pipes. Ideas are welcome.

Here are a few pictures.

My exhaust now.....

Here are the new tips after I finished polishing them and getting the tips cleaned up. I will post more pics as I get stuff finished.

Very nice looking car. His pipes aren't on par with my taste, but absolutely beautiful none the less. Thanks for the link!

Just finished welding them together. Looks great to me! I will post some pictures here in a bit of the tips. I will install them tomorrow. I plan on getting the vinyl stickers made Wed or Thur to do the ///M5 emblem media blasting. Should have it all finished up by this weekend.

So Timmay77 started the thread a month ago on what set E39 M5 owners apart from all others. Forget the title, but, many of us replied with unique stories of ownership.
* So here is our payback to Timmay77 for his continued efforts to set the standard of ownership very very high - go ahead and reply to "Name that Tip"
* "Size Really does Matter"!
* "Buff This Baby"

Oh ....One quick story - I'm talking with a neighbor in the driveway Sunday afternoon, 20' or so from the garage doors. He turns and runs fast (very fast) for his 2yr old+- toddler daughter who is hanging out behind my parked M5. As I catch up we find his little blond headed "Sophia" laughing with both arms comfortably reaching inside the right 2 exhaust tips up to her elbows. (Fortunately car was cold!) As he eases her arms out of each exhaust pipe she is covered with black M5 soot. After a little soap and water all is well. What a sight. Wish I had a camera in hand for that moment. .. watch your toddlers!

That is a funny story. I wish could have captured a picture of that, it would have been an EPIC M5 photo!!!
