Yes, the previous it Was available in ///M clothing... a real sleeper indeed
You're thinking of the E34. The E28 was never built in a Touring bodyshell - the Touring concept for BMWs was (re)introduced with the E30, fairly late in its life-cycle, then followed by the E34, E36, E39 and E46, and now the E61 and soon the E9x...

KBK did you see further down that page is a silver M5 estate with German plates on,I dont like estate cars but the idea of having an estate version has made me want one(M5 estate) I don't know if anyone else has asked the question but here goes Why the f*ck didn't BMW do this for real
In this country I could pick up a E39 estate for peanuts(not literaly) and then if anything happend to my M5 I could make my own M5e or M5t(for the US and rest of world) I just wonder how easy it would be maybe I should ask the Guy who did the "Twin turbo" thread for some tips

For everyone who wanted info on the mechanic who did the conversion.
I believe his name was "Tim", a mechanic at what was "Chris BMW" in Decatur, GA. He's actually the guy standingI believe the name of this dealership is now at www.nalleybmw.com
Not sure if he's still there but I hope this helps. And I think that's him in the background of one of the pictures below. There were two guys hanging around while Tim showed me the car and it was so long ago I forgot :-)
And as far as I can recall, he did a complete change of the transmission to make it a 6 speed.
