Finall made the change from E39 to E60

After owning my Oxford Green E39 M5 for 6 years, I finally took the plunge and have just purchased a Sepang Bronze 2005 E60 M5 (1 photo attached).

It has taken me a long time to appreciate the E60 styling, but after driving the car yesterday, I was sold !
I like the unusual colour and the previous owner has chosen a good specification.

The car is from a BMW dealer in Scotland and comes with a full BMW warranty and has a full BMW service history for all it's 44,000 miles.

I've been slowly searching the E60 forum for owner's experiences and issues, but are there any things I should look out for so that I can ensure that the dealer sorts them out before I collect the car ?

Can't wait to pick it up next week

Thanks in advance
Cheers
Phil

Congrats I'd love to pick up an e39 M5 one day to accompany my e60. The e39 is just an absolutely beautiful design!

I was in hamilton looking at this car just the other day. Not many of these come up very often in Scotland so i ended up going to leeds to have a look at the ones round there.

Nice clean car though and the colour isn't as bad in the flesh. Enjoy it, I have been since Thursday!

Welcome to the club!

May be after you have driven it for a while you can give your take on the plus and minus of both the E39 and the E60.

Theres nothing really to look out for other than read the manual 3 times before you pick the car up, it will help no end and make the 'early' days much more enjoyable!

Oh and as soon as you start up select either 'M' mode auto or manual or at the very least gear speed of S/D 5! Trust me ;O) Other wise auto will drive you mad!!!

Regards

Jay

Here's a tip:

Before you push that M button on the steering wheel, verify what the settings are first in the iDrive. Mine were set to S6, DSC off, P500S. I went into a 4 wheel drift getting onto the fwy b/c I wasn't expecting the DSC to be off! LOL. Thank god I was able to tame the beast before it got the best of me.
