New owner saying hello! (with pics)

Hi all,

I've finally got around to posting, after picking my beast up a month ago.

Having drawn heavily on the advice and info from this board (thanks all!), I plumped for a 2001 Le Mans blue car, and I can honestly say it puts a smile on my face every single time I sit in it!

The car has barely 76000miles on the clock, with a full BMW service history. The previous owner was a BMW enthusiast and a motor mechanic, and had also changed the oil every 6000 miles, using Castrol Edge. He'd actually only put 14k on the car in his 3 years of ownership.

Anyway, the car drives beautifully, although a little lumpy when cold, but after a minute or two it's fine, and I just love the way it seems to pull in virtually any gear, any speed, any time.

All in all, I'm chuffed!

Thanks for all who have posted advice on which I based my purchase, hope I can contribute in some way once I"ve owned the car a little longer.

Thanks for reading, best wishes for 2008!

Nice car! And my favorite color!

Welcome to the board. Like we all say, be prepared for lots of smiles everytime you drive it. And drive it like you stole it

Drive safely.

very beautiful, man.

i have these rare headlights with amber corners found only in the us which would look really unique on your car if you are interested in trading for yours with clear corners.

Hi fellas!

Thanks for the kind words! :-)

I don't mean to boast but it is a gorgeous colour isn't it? Having said that, there really isn't a bad colour for a M5 is there?!

I'm really happy with the spec too, with the halos, zenons, widescreen etc, but all of that is secondary to THAT engine! It's not as thirsty as I thought either, I've averaged around 21mpg so far, which isn't bad for a V8 I guess.

Wentouch, nice try fella! lol :-)

Whattheheck, whereabouts from the north west mate? I'm from Wallasey myself.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Mart

Hi mate!

Yes it does, which is quite unusual, from what I can gather?

It's a nice touch, but it will be some time before the miserable British climate lets me use it

Congrats, hope you enjoy yours like I'm enjoying mine!

My 325 used to run rough when cold, and as it got worse i had the dealer look at it. Turned out to be inlet and exhaust cam sensors. As soon as they were replaced, everything was fine, so I'll be bearing that in mind if the beast gets much worse. Wasn't a big job though, not too wallet-intensive!

:-)
