I would say both are title contenders but Ralf Schumacher has more F1 experience so my nod goes to him

Yes it is the most powerful, even more so than the ferrari's and Mclaren's. Highest horsepower will usually means faster straight line top speeds and Montoya had the fastest top speed of the weekend at the end of the main straight...he was clocked at 363.7 km/h and he was fastest regularly during the weekend.
P.S. Arrows is also known to have a high top speed even with one of the least powerful engine in Formula 1.

No doubt, it is the most powerfull engine. The funny thing is that they donīt want to say the exact number of horses.
People say 830-850 hp, that engine sounds veeery loud !!

363.7 km/h wasn't Montoya but Jean Alesi on the Jordan Honda...
But BMW Still Rule z

oops... sorry about the mistake! I didn't really remember if it was Montoya or not but I'm pretty sure his top speed is close to 360km/h.

Jetboy you said it's very loud ... every car in the F1 is very loud , because they don't have any mufflers or other crap that would make'em quiter , i had benn going to hockenheim every year for about 15 years and belive me they're loud. You know at 2 or 3 times i don't remember correctly i took the "big-package" you know whatching the practice-runs , qualify , the race , visits in the boxes and other stuff. You know when i have been there for the first time the price was around 5 times lower than this year
Owning a track where F1 race are on , hm nice business i can tell. I wish i had a track , even a small one with no F1 or any other famous races on it , it'll still be used all the time , by magazines , some little club races , and maniacs like ourselves.

There was a web-chat this summer where people had the chance to ask Ralf Schumacher and Dr.Mario Theissen questions.
Well, Dr.Theissen answered one of my questions regarding the power "reserve" of the current engine by saying that they had at least 50hp that they could add without any significant changes and he was confident that we would see an impressive change once they would do a major revision!
So it's safe to assume that BMW will hold the title for strongest engine for the near future.
Now if only the stories about a V10 going into the next generation M5 will come true
