Rolex and BMW

Do you find that many BMW enthusiasts also enjoy other luxury items?
Seems like a no-brainer that people that spend the time and money to buy a new or vintage auto would feel the same way about other everyday items.
i would think that a Rolex would fit well on the wrist of BMW owner.

Do many of you own one - or which watches are your favorites?

Thanks.

Stated with my "Mr. Spock" ears on...

Perhaps I've been reading a bit too much of Steven Hawking (yes, the 'black hole' guy) -- but it would seem logical to assume that if de Witt owned one of those 'de Witts', he'd likely be without wits of any kind -- unless he's already unwittingly () made his millions...

On second thought, it's not my reading at all -- why oh why am I suddenly reminded of those godawful (? ) Guiness commercials -- Brilliant!

That is the kind of watch that a mere millionaire cannot afford to own, it takes multi multi multi millions to afford that ugly piece. Scary to think that even at 50million net worth, 633,000 would be a significant percentage of your assets. . . . all sunk in a watch.

Hey de Witt, very glad you got my humor -- it was meant in a good natured way. And yes, I heartily agree, that watch redefines 'over the top' !

Haha, I know. I have my wits about everything. The name has never brought insults, but usually the "hey dewitt, did you do it this weekend," etc. Maybe a yes, maybe a no.

This is a BMW owner's watch:

http://chronomaster.co.uk/B116_Omega...aster_20_g.JPG

The speedy pro looks great on a dark brown strap, much better than the ss bracelet.

If you must have a Rolex, get a GMT (not the new II, but the old one), Explorer II (orange GMT hand), or a Submariner black/black stainless with the cyclops bubble. A President with the bark finish is nice, but Ive never liked gold.

When talking about Heuer, I think the TAG re-editions are fine watches. Some snobs tilt their heads up at the re-editions, but whatever. The new technology and design is better than the old Heuers, which were not really expensive when they were being sold. The Carrera Chronograph and Monaco (Steve McQueen edition) re-editions are beautiful watches. These too look far better on a dark brown strap than they do with the SS bracelet.

Some will say Panerai, but I think they look awful. Its like putting a beautiful steam train on your wrist, and all of a sudden it becomes ugly. They just look ugly, the entire PAM line.

I like some of the Breitlings, but only the large case navitimer, like the 1806. They are HUGE, 47mm, excluding the crown, w/ the crown, 51mm in diameter. But they are functional watches if you fly (slide rule, I guess you gotta know how to use that) or drive (chrono).
