        Faith

I have read a number of posts and the most disturbing were the ones from people who are ignorant of Islam .
How many of you have read the Quran? If you have then surely
you clearly would see how similar it is to Judiaism and Christianity.

Someone actually wrote if you do not convert to Islam than
you will be killed." I guess you've never heard of Jihad, the sacred war of the Islam against anyone who are not Islamic. "

        What nonsense.
Islam teaches us to respect all faiths and has no compulsion in religon.Jihad is a term which is misused agaisnt Muslims. It does not condone acts of terror or the killing of innocent people.
        Roee wrote the following:
"Why do you think the Palestinians still EXIST? that's because the people in Israel are mostly non-religous and just want to live peacefully, like you do in the US (or at least did until now). Most of them want peace, and don't want to kill anyone. Israel is taking the passive side in the "war" with the Palestinians. It's not using even 0.01% of it's force against them, in the sake of humanitry. "

I can't believe I'm reading this. The Palestinians have been suffering under Israeli occupation with absolutly no rights.since 1948 the creation of the state of Israel.
What kind of democracy are you talking about.
If Israel wants peace then why did your citizens elect a murderer?
        Aerial Sharon!
How many Palestinians were killed today by Israel?11!
        How many homes were demolished?thousands!
How many Palestinian children between the age of 3mo. and 16 yrs.old.
        Hundreds!
How many Olive trees uprooted?Tens of thousands?
This is from a people who want peace.
Stop whinning. The Palestinians have agreed to every demand
Israel wanted for a mere 22% of the west bank and Gaza. lf a people defend themselves agaisnt occupation and inhumane tratement Israel calls them terrorists.

I come to this board because I have a passion for the m5.
What happened yesterday is tragic and very painfull.
It is important to discuss this terrible incident but please don't bring Religon or politics
to this board especially mocking and misrepresenting Islam
        or any other faith.

You are completely right about the Palestinians, and if you've read my posts you must have noticed that I DON'T think Israel has any right on the land that the Palestinians does not.

Israel chose Ariel Sharon becasue that Yasser Arafat refused to accept Ehud Barak's offerings and istead begun the Intifada.
As Ehud Barak's was the country's most leftish priminister ever, that pushed the public to another extreme and made them choose Sharon. Barak offered them MUCH more than 22% of the west bank. Yasser Afrafat prefers to get an agreement based on the surrender of Israel due to violence. That's the only way he can maintain his regime.
You must consider the facts and not the Palestinians (nor the Israel) propaganda.

You tend to forget that there are MILLIONS of Arabs living in Israel, all enjoy democracy and the prosperity of a western country. All enjoy freedom of speech they would NEVER have in their own countries.

I truly believe that Palestininas should get their lands back, and all live in peace. I just wish they would agree to that.

Please, investigiate the matter before attacking me.

I believe that every known terrorist groups in the world be eliminated.

These events will show the younger generations like me that keeping the peace is really important. Being a teenager (yes I'm still 19) , and I'm speaking for alot of teenagers out there, I'm scarred that this could end up in a war. But Pearl Harbor was Japan attacking the USA while this is a group of terrorist attacking the USA.

Whoever did this terrible act will be punished and that I think everybody in this world cannot wait until Justice is done.

        Angry The Originator

        All,

I can certainly tell you that I had no idea that this post would run tha course it has. As you can tell from the title, it was simple about reacting to this unimaginable event that has become a reality.

Many of the posts have been very inlightening. I do not agree with all of them, but that is part of what we in America accept. America allows freedom of speech. It is unfortunate that there are others in the world that would seek to force their way of life and beliefs on us..

I will again say that the people and or country that is responsable for this act should be meant to pay dearly. It would be a mistake to think that innocent people might not get caught in the crossfire. We would hope this would not be the case, but reality rarely shows this to be the case.

In light of the innocent lives that were lost here in here America, we will seek out those responsible and those who would seek to replicate this action and send them straight to hell. Period.

It is very disturbing to go up against people with this frame of mind. Someone who is willing to die for his or her belief in the manner that we have all witnessed is, in my opinion the most dangerous enemy of all. They need to be exterminated to the extent that no one will want to follow in their foot steps. Nuclear response is certainly an almost unthinkable action, but then again, so is what we have just witnessed.

I did not know anyone personnally who perished and I cannot begin to think of what it feels like for those who have. I will share that my anger is not directed at any particular group or country, with one major exception. That exception is the guilty party. There will be no place on this earth that you can hide. May God not have mercy on your sole when we find you.

I am thankful that we have a place that we can air our feelings.

I whole heartedly agree, terrorism has no place in any society.
I have never been able to understand why any one would undertake such actions, killing and maiming people, it is beyond me.
I can't see what the outcome can possibly be, apart from revoltion and damnation to those responsible.
        What can it ever achieve?
It's happened so many times over here, (was caught up in the bombings on Canary Wharf some years back), and the images I have sean regards to this. I'm exhasbirated over these attrocities.
Here in the UK the shock is felt and emotions are running extremely high.
Our heartfelt condolences are expressed to all.

I know it has already been said, but I think our discussion is a model of what is RIGHT with the world - people of differing opinions sharing their views, backing their assertions up with data, respecting divergent opinions.

We could teach politicians a thing or two....

I am not attacking anyone. On the contrary,I feel the Muslim community is being attacked. When Timothy Mcveigh committed the terror in Oklahoma, was his faith ridiculed? Why then do people who know nothing about Islam and the situation in
Palestine condem the People of this great faith?

It was to say the least very strange to find such discussions on this board.

        I type this without prejudice.
It is, I believe human nature (anger mainly) taking over. During the last war, as soon as Germany's war machine stepped up a gear, any German was, or appeared to be, fair game.
They all got tarred with the same brush, even if they were good friends, law abiding etc, opinions instantly changed.

We Americans have been hurt badly by an enemy we largely cannot understand.

Blind rage is another element of the attack that is part of the outrage we are suffering. Our attackers are as responsible for this rage as they are for the flames and death.

It is important to find the people responsible. The greatest urgency is to prevent any further massive attacks against civilization.

We must find out who our enemies are. We must nuetralize them. We must protect ourselves from further disaster. A biological attack or sarin gas attack or nuclear attack seem so easy to imagine after 9/11/2001.

It seems logical that we americans will find it of utmost importance to seek the help of our Arab American citizens to help
protect our country. To understand the enemy is the first step in defeating him. We should fight our enemies, not our fellows.

We must turn our rage to a cold resolve.

Hate will not protect us from harm.

fas and everyone contributing to this post,

I'm am very sorry if I have offended anyone or said something that has misguided you into thinking that I'm prejuduce against Muslims. As I said earlier, I most definately believe that the majority of Muslims in the USA and abroad are peace loving people who have no association with terrorists or terrorist activities. I think that the hate letters and hate phone calls being received by Muslims is sickening and wrong. It is true what fas was saying, that there are fanatics in every religion and I believe that is true of the attacks on Tuesday. I especially think it sad that the Christian name has been used so broadly in the world today. There are too many religious cults that call themselves Christian yet don't believe in Christian fundamentals. I'm speaking of those who bomb abortion clinics and murder doctors and those who cause all sorts of riots etc. in the name of Christ. Just as Timothy Mckveigh bombed Oklahoma and David Koresh took over Waco, Texas, these kinds of groups exist and call themselves "Christian". Heck, the polls taken in the USA says that at least 80% of all Americans are Christian because they believe in God but do they really know what saying that means. James 2:19 says "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble." But there is no redemption for demons! So just to believe in God doesn't mean you're a Christian. The whole term Christian refers to following Christ by faith through grace that is a gift from God, and not of works, lest any man should boast.

But anyway, fas, I again am sorry if I offended you. Believe me, I don't want to offend or hurt anyone and I will refrain from quoting the Quran since I am not a studier of it. And I hope that the peace loving Muslims of the USA and the world will not be attacked or hated because of the zealotous actions of a few. I also hope that the Christian name would not be associated with the same kinds of zealotous people who use it to bomb, mame and hurt others.
