Such sad times that things like this have to be posted

But hey if they don't deliver the goods/services properly then let them feel the pain and power of the M5Board!

Oooh can we start naming and shaming all the bad dealers across the globe soon too! I've got at least 3 official BMW dealers that I've personally blacklisted now!

Gustav, I think this is a great idea! It is difficult enough for me to relax when I get a new passenger who looks starts pointing and touching stuff, so you can imagine how hard it is for me to have faith in external vendors with the products/services they perform for our cars.

Yes. This is mean to primarly as a list of companies that have partnered with m5board.com but not fulfilled their promises, either to you (Members) as customers or to me as advertising medium. Those will be posted on the first thread by me.

So if anyone is not happy with a sponsor you can email me to discuss if they should be placed here or not. A typical example would be not deliverign of items despite product have been paid for.

Excellent Thread. I saw something like this on Rennlist or 6spd, can't remember.
I hope that all these companies will remain at the top, so they are easy to find.

Yes, they will be added by me on the first post.

Looks like one alreaady stepped up to the plate and solved soem differencies.

Remember: this is as much for you members as a help: if a Sponsor does not do a good job you can take it up to discussion if he should be placed here.

I think this gives power to the consumer in a good way and it is also a way for customers to see which companies to trust.

Gustav,

After being involved with forums for 10 years, I predict this plan will cause problems. This same approach produced unintended results and failed on prominent Corvette forum and Saleen mfr forums. Primary sponsors were continually flogged, as non-sponsors did not see similar abuse.

Highlighting consumer service or advertizing squabbles strictly related to sponsors will ultimately hurt this forum. This penalty process essentially threatens companies who become financially involved with M5board. Why not smack down companies who never offered a penny for sponsorship with equal or even greater force? Why should they be immune to public flogging just because they did not become sponsors? Magnifying or highlighting consumer issues with sponsors would seem to discourage companies from becoming sponsors when it places them at a distinct disadvantage with statistically-distorted negative post count and your highlighting efforts. A large company with thousands of happy customers could be severely hurt/damaged by a couple disgruntled customers. Is this the objective? Dinan got negative exposure over a rebate mixup, just as they became interested in sponsorship. When Dinan representatives tried to address questions they were swarmed upon by a handful of folks, as the satisfied Dinan customers sit silently. This can create a very distorted perception when customer satisfaction percentage is unknown. I felt that public attack was inappropriate and unfair.

I think sponsors should get equal or perhaps even special treatment. Juvenile members occasionally use this board as a way to abuse or attack companies who support the forum. The board administration seems to be applauding or following that lead. IMO, there's a fine line between a black list and black mail. I sincerely hope your sponsors see this differently.

Lscman,
What about a private area to view this type of information? I recently found out that the AMG Lounge is not public and you have to be an AMG owner to get in. (we'll leave it at that and not discuss different ways to get in )

Private one-on-one resolution is "better". Public arena-style resolution areas (car owners or otherwise) encourage attacks on sponsors because folks know they can effectively armtwist & damage reputation to get what they want...even if they do not deserve it. The whole spectacle creates a distorted perception of reality and this ultimately discourages members from buying sponsor products because they falsely get a sense that their customer service or products is inferior. Good news like positive feedback is not highlighted.

The feedback poll info that ebay publishes is great. Almost everybody votes, not just the unhappy folks. This gives buyers an accurate statistical value to review. Unfortunately you can't get that data on vendors because a consistent poll is not taken for comparison. A single pos or neg comment about the seller is allowed, so multiple ugly threads don't result when somebody makes it their goal to destroy a seller.

Realize that forums are used by a small number of negative folks to publicly damage vendors and mfrs. Sponsors get the most negative treatment. It's up to forum mgmt to manage the situation.
