I take a completely different view on this issue.

Sponsors should not be black listed at all. It's the task of the moderators to allow the right, new companies to this board and to protect their interest!! Dinan, Hartge, Active a.o. are reputable companies that strive to give the best product and service. Should something go wrong, the moderators contact the sponsor in question and try to rectify the situation. You're taking their money, you owe them. Not paying the sponsor bill does not belong on this board. That's for the moderators to resolve and perhaps after a warning cancel their sponsorship.

Then there are non sponsor, new companies. Set up some rules for complaints by members.

HOW DO YOU FILE A COMPLAINT:
1. Goods supplied?
2. According price quoted?
3. According specs quoted?
4. Quality level?
5. Delivered on time?
6. (add to this list).

And the buyer should have an invoice or quotation to prove that company is at fault. I once bought a product from an Austrian company that never supplied the goods. Now that's information we'd like to know about. I don't want someone else to spend and waste money there. But.... the info first goes to a moderator, and not straight on to this board.

Another thing you could do, but that might be difficult, is for M owners to provide you with VIN number, pic of the car with licence plate visible and home address, to take them out off the anonimity, knowing that the moderators truly know who you are. You're then a verified member. I wouldn't mind at all. Perhaps give these members some extra benefit. I wouldn't even mind paying the board USD 100 per year to become a varified member and truly become part of this wonderful group.

Just my 2 cents.

Frank.

Glad to hear this! For a mere 10,000-thousand multiplier, you too can have the opportunity to bid on this bridge (after all, what's a few mil amongst friends)!

Just my 2 billion...

Note: After receipt (and clearing) of your courtesy check, you will recieve instructions as to how to compete in subsequent bidding for the fictional item. Thank you.

Frank, that sounds like discrimination towards smaller, less-funded companies who would like to be sponsors (to hopefully become bigger companies).

To prohibit member postings on vendor experiences (whether sponsor-related or not) is censorship. The problem lies when postings get irresponsibly out of line, inconsistent with the actual sales transaction(s).

As has been said many a time, to a great degree this board is self-regulating. The moderators here IMO do a fine job of moderation, and while sponsors should be fairly represented, IMO (again) the mods should not have to "defend" them. More appropriate action would be management of out-of-line postings and some steering to reveal the facts in a given circumstance.

It's not discrimination. I am saying that any company that wants to sponsor this fine board should not be black listed just because one person has a negative experience. It needs to be carefully looked at. There usually are two sides to a story. It is so much easier to cause damage than to get positive feedback. I do agree with the selfregulation and moderation principles. Perhaps with all the problems members have here, we should black list BMW

I may be wrong, but I don't think they'd allow that here. I would think and expect that, if I (or anyone who's been here for awhile. A first-time poster might be a different thing) said XYZ CO ripped me off, that it would simply serve as a warning to others. If a few people jumped in and said: "yeah, that happened to me too", then maybe we'd be talking blacklist.

But still it would be nice to ask your sponsor why this happened and give him the chance to respond before you blacklist.

Common sense is never out of vogue (excepting the So Cal folks, of course).
