Do you remember journalist killed testing modified Benz at track?

I'm trying to recall and need some help. There was an automotive journalist who was killed testing a modified Mercedes Benz (Rennspeed?) at a high speed circuit a few years ago. Anyone remember the name or incident?

Thank you very kees. That was the information I was looking for. For some reason I remembered him today and wanted to wish him well.
