You Swedes might not know this, so here goes :)
Denmark and Sweden is seperated only by a tiny strip of water called Oeresund. On top of this, that strip is neutralized by a massive suspending bridge...
But that doesnīt stop this from being a fact of life....
M5 E60 priced in Sweden:
114.000 USD
M5 E60 insured in Sweden (my price):
2400 USD pro anno
M5 E60 priced in Denmark:
300.000 USD
M5 E60 insured in Denmark (my price):
14166 USD pro anno
I wonder now why many danish car enthusiasts chose to settle in sweden (Malmoe to be exact), where they are still 30 minutes away from the capitol of Denmark.
....Loco stuff....

Wow, the insurance rate follows the car price, very high in Denmark as well. Also it is tragic that say a Danish 525i or Volvo V70 T-5 is almost as expensive as a Swedish new M5.
However I beleive these rules will change in the future fro Denmark, since EU does not like this, is my guess?

Yeah it has to change, but the problem is that the danish government need the money because they have become an integral part of our welfare system, so they have to get it elsewhere.
And I donīt think M5īs will be the cars that get cheaper - might be Lupoīs, Yaris and Priusī unfortunately :P
Road tax?
Insane eco taxes?
But itīs "fun" to see that Sweden can actually make it work without these crazy car taxes. GO SWEDEN!

yes you guys have it even worse than us over here in Finland..
Gustav didnt the Swedes have a high tax on cars until a few years ago (sometime in the 90s) and then the government removed it and everything works properly.
Its also funny (in a bad way!) that Swedens top 10 sold cars are mostly quite good cars, V70, S60, Saabs, M-B etc and over here it Corolla, Focus, et al..

No, we have had this "low" tax on cars all the time, but very high on everything else
I think the main reason that Sweden avoided this tax is because iof our domestic products Saab and Volvo, with those taxes these manufaturers would loose the largest market for them.

Oh. I guess I remember wrong, or was somehow misinformed.. Yes its likely that Volvo and Saab together carry enough weight to keep the taxes low. Gotta move to Sweden

Well actually I dont think they are making it work......the swedish wellfare system has been so fukked up that people basically stopped working.
It is a relativelly small percentage of workers who pay for all the other people..
I dont know of any other country giving so many benefits for the low and middle class....
I just hope that things will change with the new government and that Sweden stops receiving people from other places in the world that will be unable to integrate and contribute to the country.
Did I just convert this to a political thread?
