        Weird Posting On E-Bay - Dinan M5 for $7k?

I can't figure out if this is a typo or a scam...

It sure is too good to be true, which usually means....

Dont even bother with it. complete waste. There a lot of people who scam and this is one of them. Also, the seller has never sold anything b4 on Ebay, usually a sign that it's possibly a scam. I would not even contact them.h

Carfax shows it as a 2000 540 Automatic last registered in Indiana and currently for sale in Indiana - which doesn't explain the NJ plate... There's also no mention in the listing about upgraded head and tail lights that are in the pics - If it's a 2000MY.

        Definitely a scam.

This is a very similar add to one that appeared recently on ebay.co.uk.

The green writing over the picture is identical.

Here the 'seller' was selling a mint 02 M5 for less than half book price.

I did email him to ask why it was so cheap and got a long standard response.

The deal was that he had been working in Ireland and had had to relocate to somewhere in Eastern Europe and shipping the car wasn't worth it. Bullsh*t.

So all you had to do was send him the money and then he would arrange to have the car shipped to your home within 2 weeks.

I think that ebay pulled the add. I would suggest that you inform them that this looks like a scam anyway.

I guess some people may fall for these.

Funny to see the bidding history... as if people are trying to pick it up for less than $7k...

Dave: I agree. I got a good laugh from that as well. They are hedging their bets trying to get it for less than $7k, I guess.

p.s. - Dave, congrats on "el Diablo". There's not a guy on this forum who isn't jealous of you. I can't wait to hear more about it and see some pictures. I live in Dallas and was trying to arrange a business trip around your next meet in Chicago so that I could see it. Doesn't look like it will work out though. I'll be there on Oct 26-28.

        Take care.

        I just found another M5 for $7k.

I'm really dissapointed at all the fraud that is going on with E-Bay. I sent the seller an e-mail telling him I lived about 40 miles away and would like to come drive the car. I'll see what he says. The last one said the car was in Poland.

The description is pretty intersting. His stock M5 apparantly does 0-60 in 3.8. Not bad for a 7k car. Who could pass that up? Who needs an S2 with those kind of numbers from a stock ride?

        http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320035540893

As a side note, if you are looking to buy a car (of any kind) off of e-bay make sure you actually speak to the people selling the car, and visit them in person if possible. I sold a SC430 a few months ago and one of the bidders was contacted by someone in Europe and who scammed them into sending $2,500 via Western Union. The guy called me and asked when he could come pick up the car and I told him the auction was still active. He thought I had contacted him and offered to sell the car for $8k below the Buy it Now price if he would buy it today. He immediately called Western Union, but it was too late. I felt horrible because he was buying the car for his wife for their 25th wedding anniversary. Not only did he not get the car, he was out $2,500. Horrible.

This seems to be happening more and more.

He has upped the buy it now to $9,400 now. I guess to avoid any appearance of fraud.

Yes, $9,400 is a much more reasonable price.
